Scholarships (Or Lack Thereof)

I was honestly a little surprised I didn't get contacted for a scholarship. I got a 1390/2150 SAT and 31 ACT, ~97% GPA, and had been contacted to apply for the Coronat Scholarship in CAS. I heard that people who were contacted to apply for that scholarship often recieved other merit scholarships, but regardless, I was accepted into a dual enrollment program, and I'm happy about that. (:

But ^ allemanau, I'm sorry it turned out that way. ): I think that will happen/is happening to me, where I get into schools I love without merit scholarships. I don't want to place that burden on my parents, whether or not they would pay for it.

the thing i think is a little absurd is that scholarship offers seem to have decreased slightly, with the money staying the same for the scholarships, but the cost of attending the college has gone through the roof. this is just my thinking.....would be interesting if someone could confirm/deny

Oh hah, so I just got a letter in the mail from Syracuse, and I got a merit scholarship of $12,000 a year. Spoke too soon. (:

rachipay: why didn't you apply for Coronat? full scholarship program......(unless your dual is Newhouse/WHitman in which case you were not eligible???)

This is kinda off topic (but not really cuz eagles fan mentioned it) if you're a parent, go to the PARENTS forum. This is for accepted students, and quite frankly in any of these forums it gets annoying when a parent tries to make it sound like they know everything or more than us. Im not saying that is the case every time, but (especially in this case) it's annoying when it happens nonetheless. One of the parents before said they have a rite to be here (which is kinda true) and that it's because they pay for the college, but thats why they have the PARENTS forum. Im sure hundreds of parents just like you check it all the time and want to vent about the same topics like the cost, in fact I wouldnt be surprised if my parents were there cuz they gotta pay for Syracuse as well haha. Im sorry I figured Id get it off my chest since it bothers me a lot (and im sure im not the only 1)

i actually like hearing parents' inputs.

I still don't understand why they wouldn't at least given me a little money for a 4.0 GPA and a 1360 ACT. Is it because I got into Newhouse and Newhouse scholarships are harder to qualify for? Hmm... :(

rodney: I did apply for Coronat, I just wasn't a finalist. (:

Does anyone know when the Transfer financial aid awards come out?
