I was wondering is Clarkson University’s acceptance package include scholarships?? Theres no mention of it in mine… maybe until we get our financial aid package??

I remember seeing in the paperwork somewhere they would send financial info in March.

Oh so it will be in march. Thanks! :)

We just received a letter letting us know that the FA package will arrive mid March.

Hello, Just came across Clarkson in researching schools with outstanding Game Design (in this case Digi Arts & Science). May I asked what you/your child liked about Clarkson. Where you pleased with the FA package? Worth a visit…six hours away? Thanks!!

Heard today from admissions that financial aid letters start going out this Friday.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using CC

Their twitter post made it sound like they were already in the mail. Ughh. We’ve gotten two other pieces of mail from them this week, let’s get to it already! :)

I just got my financial aid package in the mail today. I got around $48,000 worth that doesn’t need repayment, with a suggested $5,500 to be taken out in loans. If i go with the loans, I will receive 21 dollars lol cause the aid adds up to 21 more than the direct costs. I’m very excited about this and I hope I can get some scholarships from other programs to cover the last 5,500.

My son got his today, $24k in merit/scholarship, $5500 in loans (of course), $1200 in work study. Our EFC is pretty high, so really weren’t expecting more, but it doesn’t hurt to hope.

RunsWScissors - congrats! EFC is the least funny joke I’ve ever heard. What are your son’s stats?

My son is going ape-[you-know-what] because nothing has yet come in the mail. We are in New Jersey. Are you in NY state?

Thanks! We are in MA. His gpa is ~3.6uw/4.19w ACT 35. He did apply for honors college but never heard back. Ahhh, more essays for nothing :)

Got FA package today. Most aggressive we’ve received. Clarkson has certainly become a top contender! $40K in grants/scholarships.

Got the FA pack. $26K in scholarships. I guess we’re going up to Potsdam to visit.

My son got merit aid of $27500 per year. We were a bit disappointed as he got full tuition scholarships at a couple of schools ranged higher. He really liked Clarkson but this makes the decision easier. Good luck everyone.

midwestblues, I’m puzzled like you. My daughter got offered better money at RPI, and less money than her older brother was offered two years ago with somewhat lower stats. This does make the decisions easier, though, and I won’t have to make the 6 hour drive to Potsdam. Congrats to those who did well and I hope Clarkson works out for you.

Hi,
My son received 27,500 k scholarship plus about 4 k in Grant money. This is the first FA package we received. I thought it was a good offer.

Dmt117 - I wonder if the offers that they got from Clarkson are a reflection that Clarkson did not really think the kids would go to their school. My son visited Clarkson but it was over a year ago. Not to sound arrogant, but he has Ivy league stats and I suspect that Clarkson did not think he would attend, even if granted a substantially larger scholarship. We will never really know but Clarkson is a great school and I wish everyone good luck

midwest,
We didn’t visit Clarkson but we did go to the meet-and-greet in downtown Boston and met President Tony Collins. There were only two other students that went, so it was a virtual one-on-one with the admin director and the pres. Maybe my daughter didn’t impress them, who knows… she doesn’t have Ivy League stats, but does have good stats for Clarkson, so I was surprised they didn’t do more to entice her. RPI seemed to want her.

My aid package is about 21000. This does not include loans of 5,000 or work study of 1200. My SATs are 2100, gpa is 3.75, with 8 ap classes with grades over 3. The family efc is 60,000 ( which is ridiculous), and I have a twin sister who will also be attending college. RPI and syracuse were comparable money wise, but buffalo is a state school so it’s less expensive.
