So I noticed some people mentioning they've received scholarship info already... I received my "welcome packet" on Saturday (with the booklet and the acceptance/decline letter to mail back), but haven't heard anything about scholarships... I did get the email about my FAFSA which basically said I don't qualify for any need-based aid, only Stafford loans... meh. It would really help if I got a merit-based scholarship. Does anyone know when scholarships will/should have been mailed? I'm in-state by the way, and applied for the Honors Program. Also applied for CS but have "pre-science" listed as my major on my unofficial transcript... Comments?

I received mine in the mail today, I am oos and live in Illinois. I am also pre-science and I got the Purple and Gold Scholars Scholarship for 5k a year, not much, but it all helps! I have a 34 act and a 3.6 uw GPA if that helps. I am sure they are still mailing a lot of them, so I wouldn’t worry yet!

Well, pre-science means you’re not a DA. However, you’re in their system as working towards a CS admission. Don’t feel bad there, only a few freshman would get direct admit anyways. I didn’t get one for engineering, so mine is listed as pre-engineering.

Anyways, I would expect merit aid sometime in mid april. I’m in the same boat as you (only qualifying for stafford.) My friend (IS) got a 4k merit scholarship last year, and she was only running maybe a 3.93. There’s hope, but tbh I wouldn’t count on UW scholarships until you’re in your major.

I have no financial aid whatsoever, so I am assuming it was all merit based. The letter said it was a combination of academic achievement and “the potential to contribute to the rich intellectual and diverse culture at uw”. I am not a urm or anything, but I am a green card holder if that makes a difference.
