Scholarships?

My guess would be it depends on what factor your appeal is based on… if it is SAT/ACT that seems straightforward easy to prove and it would be a given for a successful timely appeal. If it was GPA based appeal then I think it might be more grey as they have their own weighting and courses that they use in determining if it fits the criteria.

if it is solely the score and you now have the higher score, i agree with above poster. and the appeal i vaguely remember was a more complicated issue so there may be a pretty quick turnaround for appeals based on higher scores. just make sure you get appeal in by deadline.

in fact, i am not even sure it was an appeal i remember, it may have been a long time for someone applying using temple option and there were some hitches in their application. i just remember someone last year waiting a long time to hear back from Temple, after you get your appeal in, you could search through our older threads as the issue i have some recollection of was discussed on CC. that is how i learned about it.

annaclause…Here is the address where we were told to send the appeal:

Temple University
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
Conwell Hall 103 (041-09)
1801 N. Broad Street
Philadelphia, PA 19122

FYI- My son sent his appeal letter and new SAT scores on 10/24 and he has yet to hear anything on the status of his appeal.

How long does it take to get official letter? D Applied Nov 1. Just realized to check online today. Was admitted, and invited to Honors reception. She has very good scores and we assumed high scholarship–but seems like a long wait for something we thought was automatic.

^^^^ Apparently, the letters are WAY behind acceptances. My D was accepted 10/27 and we have yet to receive a letter. Others on CC in a similar wait.

there is def a lag between portal notification and the snail mail letter. honors receptions suggests she got one of the top 2 scholarships

UPDATE: i sent in my letter of appeal a little while back and emailed admissions asking about how long it would take to be reviewed. They ended up telling me that they would count my email as an appeal and that they will review all the scholarships appeals before winter break, for anyone else interested in appealing. Looks like I didn’t have to send in my letter after all!
Also, the lag between the portal announcement and the physical acceptance package is about three weeks. That’s how long it was for me and I’ve spoken to others who’ve been accepted and it was about the same for them as well.

Thanks. All great info!!!

@annaclause Who did you send the email to? I looked but could find no direct email for the admissions department so ended up using the askanowl email address.

@adlgel the email for undergrad admissions is tuadm@temple.edu

Has anyone’s portal states that he/she has been accepted to the Honors Program? Because some people think that it maybe deduced they would win the President Scholarship?

Thanks @annaclause

@Quanh261997 People are deducing it from the portal because in addition to be invited to Experience Temple Day they are also being invited to the Honors Reception which would imply they were awarded either the Presidential or the Provost scholarship. I don’t think anyone’s portal specifically states though that they were admitted to the Honors Program.

Do you think Microeconomics and Macroeconomics will be considered for GPA calculations or only Math, Science, Soc Studies and Languages will be considered

Got the Presidential official offer today.

@Booajo What’s your stats? I scored 1530 on CR+Math (one sitting) and GPA: 3.9. Do you think I have a shot :p? Oh and I’m an international student btw

wow quanh!! yes, i think you meet the criteria for top scholarship.

@ctl987 Thank you very much, but I’m still worried. Gotta receive the package till I can be sure

I just got the highest full tuition scholarship today! Huge relief to my mom, although I’m not sure if I want to go yet.

GPA: 4.0 UW
ACT: 35

So from what I’ve read it seems that you are only offered the scholarship of your lowest stat (either GPA or Sats)? That’s kind of upsetting, going by the GPA I would be considered for the President’s Scholarship but my Sats are only on the second level (Founder’s scholarship). Does anyone know if they can just offer what they want and not go by the chart? I’m going to be valedictorian of my class and was hoping I would get a better offer because of it.
