Hey guys,
I am applying for scholarships for the next school year and some have deadlines before I could get my freshman fall semester GPA. What should I put under GPA if I am a freshman and currently don’t have one?
Hey guys,

Why did you post the above just a few weeks ago??
@mom2collegekids, i think OP is referring to when his parents filed the FAFSA for his freshman year, not when he started school. I think he’s a current freshman.
OP, it’s possible The increased income could drive the EFC up. An EFC of over $6k means you won’t get any Pell. It’s difficult to get outside scholarships and some schools reduce the aid they offer by the amount of the scholarship, so check the rules at your college. Are you working during the summer? You can probably raise $3k if you do. Can your parents cover the other $2k?
Yes, thank you! I should have realized that. Sorry for the confusion.
The wording “last year for my freshman year”…sounded like he was a frosh last year. Now I realize he meant that last year when he got his FAFSA EFC for the next year (frosh year).
And to answer your question…when is this scholarship deadline? Will you have a GPA by then? Are you sure this scholarship is open to college freshman? Is there a place to indicate that you don’t yet have a college GPA? Would the app accept your high school GPA since that’s all you have now?
Aha, sorry for the confusion. I’m currently a freshman. And the scholarship is due in January. I think I’ll wait late December to submit the application so I can put in first semester grades
I’d send it now with ‘gpa pending’ and then update it when you get your grades. They know that freshmen don’t have a gpa immediately.
