Scholarships

HI - What sort of stats would an out of state business major need to get a scholarship?
Thanks!

What are your stats? Also, I’m assuming you’re not a senior in high school right now. You must apply by November 1 of your senior year to get maximum scholarship consideration.

have same question - am 3.92 unweighted. (4.23 weighted) and 35 ACT (36 M, 35E, 35R 34S)

@DG You will very likely get $11k per year from the Dean’s scholarship. It’s certainly possible to get other scholarships, but not guaranteed. Most of the full tuition/full-ride scholarships IU gives out are in-state only. You would probably be competitive for a Hutton honors college scholarship that I think is 1-6k per year. Also Hudson and Holland if you are a minority.

thx, non minority here…

everything @iubaccounting said was spot on (though there are a lot of Kelley specific scholarship you may be competitive for), except you don’t have to be a minority to get the Hudson and Holland Scholarship

@adamint I mean technically they say you don’t “have to be” a minority, but in reality, you have to be a minority.

“The program is open to all undergraduate students but strong consideration will be given to students from underrepresented minority backgrounds and whose presence will enhance the learning environment through increased cultural diversity at Indiana University.”

I understand that. However, I received the scholarship (I am not a minority) and I know other Caucasian students who have also received it

Can you only really get scholarships first year or are there still more opportunities if you for example perform really well on campus?

@CEDEotE Technically you can get scholarships after your first year, but I certainly wouldn’t count on that. The vast majority are for incoming freshmen.

thx for your help IUBaccounting…am very interested in Kelley, and appreciate your feedback…

@CEDEotE - My DS has applied for and gotten additional scholarships each year. He also got a couple different travel abroad ones for this semester.

There are many additional scholarship available to returning students. Individually, most are only ~500-2000 a year, and I haven’t found one yet that’s renewable. The best scholarships are ones you get as an incoming freshman, but you can still apply for Hudson and Holland throughout college! (6k-12k, depending on your school)

@iubaccounting - question…do you have a feel for the cut off for ACE program average ACT and GPA? Was curious what the bar was for those of if you had a guess…thx!

@DG I’m honestly not sure. I had a 4.3 and 34 ACT and there were definitely people both above and below me. That was also 4 years ago.

yeah is fair point…likely a higher bar…wouldnt hurt Kelley for it to become more selective either.
