I had a 1490 SAT score and ranked 11th in class. I thought my essay was great and I got one of those emails from Pitt saying they liked the essay.

I ended up getting only a $2,000 scholarship. I guess it’s partly because I’m in-state, but I was really hoping for a full-tuition or at least $10,000.

Oddly enough, I’m still nominated to apply for Chancellor’s, but I don’t see the point if I got the bare minimum scholarship

^^Disappointed here too. I talked to an adcom the other day and found out that my OOS D2 is getting 12k and can apply for the Chancellor’s (we were also hoping for full tuition). The adcom said that people getting full tuition had an average of 1520 CR+M. So I asked her how D2 had a reasonable chance at the Chancellors, when less than 20 are given, and she isn’t even getting full tuition now? She said that while the current scholarships are mainly stats based, the Chancellor’s looks more at other factors, such as community service, ECs, etc. While I don’t doubt that’s true, I have also seen students here on this and other threads report full tuition scholarships with lower stats, so it seems that even though the average is high for full tuition, they not JUST looking at stats right now. Anyway it leaves me feeling like D2, with good but not fantastic ECs, doesn’t stand much of a chance for the Chancellor’s. With just 12k and OOS tuition, Pitt may be out of reach financailly :(.

What Mondaysun says about Pitt looking at the Math and English portions of the ACT (instead of the composite score) makes sense in my daughter’s case. Although her original composite score was only a 32, her Math and English scores were both 35’s.

I think the the numbers are going up every year for the full tuition scholarships. Two years ago, the number for full tuition was 1450 (math+CR). Pitt has benefited from the economy with many top students who have many options selecting Pitt because of the $$. I read something the other day that in 1995, 10 percent of the incoming class graduated in the top 10 percent of their graduation classes; today, 50 percent are in the top 10 percent. That is quite a change in 15 years.

I got a full tuition back in early november approximately 2 weeks after I submitted.
I’m instate with a 3.99 Unweighted and a 35 ACT with a 12 essay (35 Reading, 36 Math).
I think being in state was the main reason I got a response back so fast, or it might have been my scores combined with my EC’s (3 sport varsity athlete, football captain, student body president, all county academic competition team, musicals/saxophone/choir, newspaper editor, + more)
Good luck to everyone still waiting!!!
