I barely got mine in. I’m doing journalism again this year.

The website is quite difficult to navigate, I thought. We kept going in circles (coming back to the same place) when we thought we were moving into the regional sections with dates, etc. My D submitted one painting, but missed the writing deadline for her poetry portfolio (Dec. 15 in the midwest). Too bad, she had some really nice stuff.

Apparently the writing deadline in Ohio is the 31st and I can’t get a teacher signature until I go back to school on the 2nd. Meh.

Upload the virtual part anyway, last year I was late on the teacher signature form/payment but they still looked at it anyway.

i knew last year you could view the previous winners’ artworks but i cannot find it? do you happen to know the link or do they not show the winning art anymore?

also i needed to log in to see the submission deadline

It could help you get off a waitlist as an “extra accomplishment” you could report to a college that is on the fence about you. So go ahead and do it as a senior, even if your apps are all due prior to the announced winners date.

Writing awards in my area were announced yesterday (art was released a month ago), and I won a gold key for my writing portfolio! So now I wait for March and the national results.

I literally got everything mailed and sent out at the final hour, since, I think like one of you, the regional deadline was the day that we got back to school. Anyway, I ended up submitting a memoir, two pieces to journalism, three for painting, and one for drawing. How about you guys? Crossing my fingers for you all on the 31st (I think that most, if not all of us are finding out then, right?):)

I released one piece of humor, and my region gets its results back on January 31!

I heard back yesterday…I won a silver key and a gold key, both in the ceramics/glass category!

ArtsyGirl, congratulations! How did they notify you?

My region notifies the schools and then like a week or two later the students themselves. So in my case I found out when the art department head posted the list of winners on our announcement board (I found out the same way last year).

Okay, so you have to wait for your school. Thanks, and congratulations again!

intparent:
My daughter got notice through email last year. They mailed the office certificate to school teacher much later.

I’m waiting for a poem I submitted…my region has been very ambiguous about when we’ll hear (says ‘by mid-Februrary’). Ugh. I’ve been checking my e-mail every five minutes lol

Congrats ArtsyGal13 on your win! A little less than 2 weeks to go for the north east region!:)

Thank you all! Your guys stories makes me happy that I live in a region that decides quickly (we hear back only two weeks after the deadline), but then our ceremony is in just over a month and the local show with the winners work starts in just over a week.

ArtsyGirl13: congratulations!
Your region is probably not some ‘region-at-large’. We belong to ‘MidWest region at large’. Our deadline is 12/15/2012, and result will be notified on 1/31/2013.There almost 7 weeks.

I’m suppose to here by today, but I haven’t heard anything…super nervous…

ZombieDante, I’m having the same freakout problem as well (also from OK). At first I was flipping out since they said that we’d be hearing the results on the 18th, then they pushed it back to today and UGH. I know about 5 other people who entered things in writing who also haven’t heard anything. I know that Scholastic emailed my school to say that a few kids won something in the Art category but didn’t say what key, so I’m hoping they’re not emailing the teachers about Writing too, or else I won’t find out until Tuesday. Here’s hoping for the best for both of us.
Also, just curious, how did Scholastic notify you last year if you won something?
