Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Quick question... obviously I didn't get Nat'l recognition, but on my Regional winner FAQ sheet thingy, it said that more info and a survey would be emailed to me. Did any of you guys ever get this? ...because, I definitely didn't =P

Some people on the board said they got a survey for nationals earlier. I don't know anything about a regionals survey, since I entered for novel, but you might try e-mailing Scholastic and asking them about it. Don't count on them writing back, though.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know when scholastic posts the names of all the national winners online?

I thought it was sometime in June...?

it says on their website that they post the winners in september...

so who won? (the novel category in the year 2007)

Whats the best category to enter for the first time

Whatever you're best at writing?

Well, what has the best chance of getting a regional level.

Well, if you're talking about writing, you can probably guess at the less popular categories (science fiction/fantasy, journalism) and the most popular ones (short/short short story, poetry, memoir). But your best bet would be to enter multiple categories and see what happens; the results may surprise you.

How many people get awards in each category?

Regionally, no one knows the breakdown for specific categories. You can get an idea of the national numbers by browsing the 2007 gallery: The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Thanks mflevity! You've been a big help.

I think Humor's another less-popular one.

I just wrote up my poem and I’m dying to have it read. sigh. Anyone appplying for January ?
Also, I just wanted to apply to four categories. poetry, persuasive essay, he freedom of expression category
