Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

I entered into Region-At-Large... I'm just wondering if anyone knows when the results come out. Thanks!!

When were the region apps. due?

It was weird...I signed up for their email newsletter...and I never got anything. Oh well, it was a long process anyways.

in my region (colorado), writing was due in dec. and art in jan. and they released results in the middle of january.

Ooh--I enterd region-at-large too, because my school seems to be in the middle of nowhere, apparently...

Region apps were due Jan 2nd. On the guidelines they said that they should have the results no later than March. I think they should notify people before then. I've been wondering about this too.

Did you enter art or writing?

Yea, when do results come out? It's already almost March...

That's weird... I live in New York and the writing submissions were due on January 16/17 and they said we'd hear about the results sometime in March...

i believe you get results back in march for region at large. i'm trying to dig up the packet i got freshman year where there was a postmarked date. anyways, if you did art, they send you a packet in march and make you send in your actual artworks for the final judging in april.

"I live in New York and the writing submissions were due on January 16/17 and they said we'd hear about the results sometime in March..."

Same here... I'm from New England too. But, I feel as if I read somewhere that judging finishes as early as a month after the submission deadline... ?

Did any of you receive a confirmation email/telephone call/etc. that said your entry was received? I was just wondering, because I literally postmarked my entry on the last possible day... whoops... =)

I didn't get any confirmation, but I actually dropped my story off at scholastic the day it was due.

I'll call them at the end of March if I don't get a call or anything.

I postmarked mine on the last possible day as well, but I haven't recieved confirmation. I think results come soon. Or at least--I hope so.

I'm not really expecting anything, though, because all of my 'short' stories are way past the word limit. So, I had to submit one of my weaker ones that I wrote about two years ago =( I edited it... but I still can't say that I'm very proud of it.

I'm trying not to expect anything... but I really want to win something. I don't know how selective Scholastic is, but like, I like my piece. I want it to win. lol

On the website, you can read pieces that won in past years. That could give you a rough idea of the selectivity.

It seemed like there was a wide variety of styles on the website, but I think that a piece can't just be good writing--it has to resonate with the judges as well.

I really never like anything I submit becase I always feel that I can improve it. But it would be amazing to win :)

We should start a Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Support Group... I'm probably going to start having a nervous breakdown in a few weeks, wondering constantly when the results will be released =)

^ I second that.

haha me too

so..when do we hear back?? they were really quick to respond and personal (email wise) when I had questions around the deadline date...then they mysteriously disappeared or something haha

Has anyone heard from the Art Region-At-Large?

No, goddamnit
