School dosent offer loans

Hey guys

after getting everything sorted I got my awards letter today it came short so i asked about getting a small student loan and the aide office said we dont do loans here. are there any options out there for me if the school dosent do loans? Im doing a dual major in electrions engineering and becuase im starting in the spring my advisor told me to try to do as many as my first year classes this semster as i can so i can get on a good track that was the plan but with with out some loan i dont think the plan will work. I may have to cut way back in classes

Did you file the FAFSA?

What type of school is this?

I did its a VA community college

The person with whom you spoke in the financial aid office may have thought that you were asking for an institutional loan. I assume that you are asking about a federal student loan, is that correct? A community college should be able to help you with that, especially if they accept FAFSA, unless you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Edited to add: It’s possible that the school doesn’t participate in the federal student loan program, for whatever reason. Which Virginia Community College is it?

Find out if your community college participate in the Direct Loan program. Some don’t. Most do.

If they do, you need to complete a fafsa form.

Were you asking the school for additional loans over and above any federal (or state) loans or grants?

Go back and ask if you can get a Federal Direct Student Loan.

they may say, “no,” because some CCs are no longer allowing because their schools have had too many defaults.

Not all community colleges participate in the federal loan program

You might have to work this semester and start community college in the fall.
