School of Engineering to McIntire?

Is it possible to apply for the school of engineering as a high school senior and then transfer to the McIntire School of Commerce later on?

Yes, but why would you want to do that?

because I want to minor in some type of computer engineering anyways.

You can take SEAS courses as a non-SEAS student, especially if they're CS classes. They would just be counted as "outside your school" (and you can only take a limited amount of those to count towards your degree). For CLAS for example, they even count CS courses taken in the SEAS as "inside the College".

But do you want to major in something in engineering?

no, i want to major in finance, but minor in computer engineer/computer science so i have a broader range of possibilities after i graduate.

so based on what galoisien is saying, i should just apply to arts and science?

yes, apply to CLAS (arts/sciences). People who apply to the engineering school are people planning on majoring in __________ engineering. You'll have much more flexibility in CLAS and you will still be able to take the classes necessary to be pre-comm/get a minor in CS or comp. eng. It really doesn't make sense for you to apply to SEAS. Bottom line: apply to CLAS as an incoming first year and then apply to the Comm school when appropriate.

I agree. If you want to minor in CS (there's no minor for CpE) then you can take class in SEAS for the minor without enrolling. Since you want to do finance mainly, you will want to apply to CLAS, then you will "transfer" to McIntire for your third/fourth years.
Also, having CS work behind a finance major might be a good plan. So, don't worry if you think the two have nothing in common. In the finance workplace, you could easily use the database/management training you'll get in CS, not to mention you could do some light programming in finance software.
