What are stats for the school of general studies? Is the college experience the same? Is tuition? Is housing? Can you take classes outside of core classes? Can you take advanced classes?

Bump! I was wondering if they had an admissions profile for CGS somewhere?

I believe if they feel that you aren't ready for the full blown academic experience, they put you in CGS for two years. I don't think you can apply there directly. If you apply to a certain college, and they feel that you're GPA/test scores are a little weak, they'll put you into CGS and transfer you back to the original college you applied for.

For example; You apply to CAS, they think your stats aren't on parr with the other students, then they put you in CGS. You take your GEs there. During your 3rd year, they transfer you back to CAS and you start taking classes on your major.

I am not 100% sure though.

Answers are - surprise - on the CGS website and the Admissions website. You can see the profile data for CGS and the other parts of BU on the latter.

Person above is generally right but you select the college you want to go into and then move into that school as a junior. There are many threads on the subject in this forum.

CGS is like NYU's program, which I believe is Directed Studies. It's a way for kids with lower high school achievement to go to these schools.

you can apply directly to cgs. everything is the same but you dont have much freedom with scheduling until your junior year when you go to another college
