School of Hotel Administration + Help ??!!

Can anyone tell me the difference between CAS, IRL and SHA? Which is most difficult to get into, I am a transfer student? Which one has easier classes?

Do graduates from the SHA recruited for finance, marketing and consulting jobs?

What are my chances to be accepted into Cornell, which ever school would be easiest.

GPA 3.6 - Scholars program at UMD
Above average EC's
SAT 1300/1600 1950/2400
High School : 90 (unweighted) 5 AP's

Thanks for responding !!!

These schools aren't interchangeable so you should apply to the school that fits your needs and academic interests the best. Any school is going to be hard to get into if it doesn't seem to the admissions people that you have a good reason for applying. The hotel school seems to me to have the most specific focus while CAS is probably the most broad in terms of the types of classes offered with ILR being somewhere in the middle. I think your approach of trying to get into the "easiest" is probably not a good strategy.

First of all, if you are looking to find the easiest school to apply to within Cornell, chances are you shouldn't really be looking at Cornell in the first place. If you want to apply to the School of Hotel Administration, you not only need to show an extreme passion for the hospitality industry and a strong sense of leadership, but you must also be willing to commit yourself to a career field as soon as you fill out the application. The School of Industrial and Labor Relations is more oriented towards a law-related career, but it's definitely less narrow branch of study than SHA. Finally, the College of Arts and Science is just a school geared at a liberal arts education, and if you are considering the easiest school in Cornell, CAS does have the highest acceptance rate. I should warn you though - don't go looking for the easiest school to get into. Like cornell75 said, you should be looking for the school with the program best suited to your needs and career goals.

I think by CAS you mean CALS...because the college of Arts and Sciences has a very low admit rate. Just to clarify.

Yes, but the College of Arts and Sciences is the school who is the least narrow in terms of admissions, since the Hotel School and ILR are both looking for a particular type of person interested in a particular type of study. CAS students are usually more well-rounded and seeking a broad area of study (liberal arts, mainly). Although the numbers don't show it, CAS would probably be a better fit for this student if they are not really narrowed down to a certain type of study (unless of course, they are from NY, in which case they would have a better chance with ILR).
This person is a transfer student though. I believe if you go to the transfer rate thread in the transfer students sub-forum it says that the acceptance rate to Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences is very low compared to the rest of the school.
