My school doesn't rank, so I'm assuming colleges are going to look at the school profile. I looked at the school profile today, and omg- all the information is from last year's class. Class of '05 was the smartest class in the school's history. They had more than 100 members in NHS and the average SAT score for top 10% was almost 1500. Someone in the 30th percentile in that class could be like 15th percentile in my class. This is so messed up!

your GC should still be able to give the colleges an estimation of where you stand in your class even if your school doesn't rank.

the GC could say something like, " "Uhhh" is ranked somewhere between the top 10-15%." or something like that

Or perhaps they do rank internally as I've seen around here. So that information would be included with the report.

how did you come across your school profile.. do all schools have profiles?

Yeah, I asked my GC for one.

if they don't rank at all, they don't rank at all. What they will do is give a list of all AP's offered, etc, so they can tell where you stand by the rigor of your curriculum and your success in it. And take heart - I go to a school where the AVERAGE SAT is ~1440, but most of us don't get lost in the shuffle.
