Home state? College Budget? Regional preferences?
What type of school? Small Private LAC or Large Research Public?
Religious/Non-Religious? Big on Sports/Greek life?
Home state: NJ
Looking for a sizable scholarship, total annual income of household is approx $65,000, living with single parent and two other siblings
Would like to be able to drive the distance, max of an 8 hour drive
Type: I am open to either
Would prefer non-religious, but not the deciding factor, am open to religious schools too
Sports and Greek life would be a good thing for the school to have, but not essential, would prefer a school not entirely centered around Greek life
UNC Chapel Hill (8 hours from NJ), University of Michigan (9 hours from NJ) , UVA (6 hours from NJ) , Penn State (2 hours), Rutgers. You have a chance to get into all of these and they are significantly less expensive than private schools. Good luck. If you are willing to go further Georgia tech had a very good engineering program.
Clarkson. As a female you stand to get a good amount of aid, and it’s an excellent engineering school. Not sure how far it is, upstate NY near Canadian border. Has Greek life but it doesn’t dominate.
