I love school supply shopping.
Like. Really, really love school supply shopping.

I see all these wonderful school supplies on my outings to Office Max and I consider purchasing them to use for next year. But that's socially unacceptable because I haven't even completed this school year.

Most people do their school supply shopping towards the end of August. I can't do that. I cannot physically, emotionally, spiritually, psychologically, socially, politically, anatomically, environmentally, or economically will myself to wait that long. I must shop now.

I curbed some of my anticipation by buying a box of Ticonderoga pencils under the guise that they were for the SATs. But little do my parents know, they were in fact the start of my school supply stash for next year.

How do I control such a debilitating addiction?

I’ve heard that a patch works.

But I heard the patch is expensive and you have to keep changing it every four hours.

Now, I’m not one to bump my own threads, but I’m amidst a crisis and I need the college confidential community to be there for me in my darkest hour.

I thought I was the only one :O

Lmao you’re cracking me up… I don’t even by school supplies anymore I’m the bum that asks every student in class, “Hey you have a pencil I can borrow?” every day and reuse my folders/binders/bacpack from last year. Guess the only thing I ever buy is notebooks from my old Physics teacher for $.25 ea every year Sorry, I’m no help. But if you want to buy stuff so bad who cares? Go buy that *****

@BellLander - You’re not alone.

@KappaTau - YOLO, right? I should shop to my heart’s desire, who cares what others think? LOL, but don’t you like feeling prepared and having an array of writing utensils, rather than relying on someone’s nasty chewed up BIC pen?

I’m with you. I go out and buy every color pen in every style. Same with folders, notebooks, binders, loose leaf paper… You name it and I have it.

I’m that addicted.

But, come on… A girl needs her options. Different pencil and pen for every day, don’t judge.

It all started at the ripe age of 5 with a Barbie backpack, from then on there was no looking back.

I. HAVE. THE. SAME. PROBLEM.

But I control it. Kind of. Like honestly, it’ll be January and I’m on youtube spending 2 hours watching school supply videos o.o. Also if I go out with my parents shopping and I know I don’t need anything, I don’t bring any money, too tempting. But it is really embarrassing when my friends look at my notebook and all they see are a bunch of school supply shopping lists for next year =___=. Seriously, its happened so many times.

@likingyou - OH MY GOD, I love school supply “hauls” on youtube, and I watch them year round.

Just a quick informal poll: How many of you that are addicted to school supply shopping have two X chromosomes?

@TheKongo - I thought of this more as a awkward, school-obsessed nerd thing rather than a female thing. But I guess most of the people (just kidding, all of the people) here that are obsessing over school supplies happen to be of the female persuasion. Myself included.

Preamble1776, you are NOT alone!! There is not a problem in the world that can’t be solved with a new pencil case or a large, fresh set of crayons!! Going shopping for school supplies gives you hope, a fresh, clean slate for another year of academics.

I’m a parent who may have to seek counseling when my school supply shopping days come to an end. (Or just adopt some younger kids to go shop with!!??)

@powercropper - LOL, you could always get yourself a part time job at Staples or Office Max during school supply season so you can be smack dab in the middle of all the action when your children outgrow supply shopping. :)

Yup. Not as much now as when I was little (and it was socially acceptable to use Lisa Frank supplies) but I still like getting them. I always end up with more than I actually use during the year.

BRO. BRO.

I ABSOLUTELY love school supplies. A new packet of mechanical pencils? Oo, yeaaah. That’s the kinda stuff that gets me going.

That’s weird I had a feeling you were all female but was afraid if I said something you’d actually be guys and be offended lmao. I think that’s just a girl thing :P

Same with me but it lasts the entire year. I’m addicted to Staples and the office section in Wal-Mart.

I’m the person at school everyone asks for paper and pencils.

I’M NOT ALONE. I really love school supply shopping. It is my favorite time of year! I love the week or two before school starts! It’s so exciting! I get to find out my schedule and then open house and then school supplies! :D
