I didn’t file taxes in 2015, and when I try and make an account to get the letter of non-filer from the IRS it says that I need to use some kind of credit card or auto title, which I do not have. How can I get the letter without using bills I don’t have?
The IRS doesn’t charge for tax transcripts. Are you on the correct site?
@twoinanddone It is not trying to charge, it is asking for proof of ID. I followed the link from the school, it is the IRS domain. This is the link: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
OP,
I think IRS is using your credit history to confirm your identity.
@4kidsdad I know that. I don’t really have a credit history, though. I’m a senior in high school.
You can print the form check the boxes, sign and mail it in. You should get it back in approx 10 days
Just wondering, @chansu99, did you get it/how long did it take? I’m going through the same thing. I faxed it to them on Dec 18th and haven’t gotten anything yet.
I am willing to bet there have been several holidays in between 12/18 and today - allow 10 business days. It will arrive soon, I am sure. Let us know when it does, so we have an idea of how long it takes. Thanks!
