Schools for smart kids who like to party.

That's definitely not true about Caltech, (although, I wouldn't recommend it for someone who likes to party hard). There aren't many parties, but when we have them, they are the most elaborate parties you will ever see in your life. In fact, back during the times of Interhovse, a party put on by all of the houses at the same time used to be rated by Playboy as one of the top ten parties on the west coast, until the administration put a stop to it, because of and random unsavory characters showing up on campus. (This was before my time, but over 10000 people used to show up to Interhovse, an rather large number, considering that there only only about 1900 students (undergrad & grad) total at Caltech.)

How about some more New England LAC love?... Bowdoin, Middlebury

Anyone know about Emory or Tufts in terms of partying?

Rice University!

I guess you haven't seen the Fun at Emory video on YouTube? And Tufts is the Emory of the North so...

Rice????
Rice has never hit me as a total Party with a Bitc* school...

well i wouldnt call BC a party school at all, but its definetly a drinking school. pregaming is necessary before almost anything you do.. seriously. tailgates in the mods are great, st pattys day is insane, marathon monday is really a unique experience. defiently for smart kids too.

immediately when i read this thread Penn came time mind, then USC, Duke, actually Dartmouth too, of course Vandy, and Wisconsin

Why does everybody always consider Penn to be such a great party school? Compared to Dartmouth and Cornell, the parties are pretty tame.

I agree with Penn, I've heard crazy stories, however everyone is completely forgetting about USC.

It is the ultimate combination of smart school with stellar partying. Its legendary and trumps any other California college besides maybe UCSB.

haha-I like the Duke Duke duke slide lol. It's true they have good parties there. I really like the social life at UNC-a lot of really nice, smart kids (most of whom passed up Ivies like me) who are relaxed and very welcoming. Whether it's greek life, house/dorm stuff or even just campus activities sponsered by CAUB (Carolina Activities which are actually pretty cool) UNC is a great place to be!

Well I say Rice because first of all, its great academics, that's a given. But also, because it is a wet campus. Since alcohol is allowed on campus (there are two pubs on campus) there is a lot of parties. There are both public and private parties. The public parties are usually held in the common (dining area) at a college (dorm). The parties are pretty big, with the Night of Decadance party being the biggest. Usually around 1100-1300 people attend that party, while there are only 3000 students. Public parties usually include music, dancing, food, free beer and other drinks. They are all themed so they are a lot of fun. Like the 80s Party with a live band, Margaritaville, Wild West, Casino Party, among many others. Also, private parties go along with the public parties. The private parties are of course the ones in halls and rooms. And they are all a lot of fun. And since Rice is a wet campus, parties rarely ever get stop...I haven't been to one that has been stop. The school doesn't encourage drinking of course, but makes it our decision.
