Do most F500 companies like to recruit at USF for reasons such as proximity and location, being in San Francisco/ Bay Area and all, or do most of them flock over to UC Berkeley instead, since UCB is very well-known and that they're only about 1 hr apart.

In general, how do people, and businesses in the Bay Area regard University of San Francisco? More specifically, for a USF business graduate to compete for openings at companies in and around Bay Area as opposed to a Santa Clara or Berkeley graduate, or USF in comparison to other Northern California schools like San Francisco State, UC Davis, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara University, how does USF stand?

I live in SF. USF is a respectable regional school, known locally for its decent business school and law school. But, I believe, it really is only known locally. If you plan to live and work in the Bay Area, it is a decent option. However, it is private and expensive. Frankly, it would be significantly cheaper to attend SF State University. I don’t know anyone who thinks USF > SFSU in terms of reputation.

If I were to rank Bay Area schools by reputation:
(1) Stanford & Berkeley
(2) Davis, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara
(3) SF State, USF, SJSU
(4) CSU East Bay

I should also say these are rough rankings, and could change depending on the specific major. For example, for film/tv, SFSU goes to the top. For computer animation, SJSU goes up.

You mentioned interest in “business”, so I think the above ranking is reasonable.

I went to SFSU for Business Admin, with an emphasis on International Business. I felt the school was lacking. Classes were very filler oriented. Seemed like you really needed to get the MBA. I would however say that reputation wise SFSU and USF aren’t that far apart.

But when you go to a school like UCB and graduate from Haas you’re opening tons of doors. It’s leaps and bounds better, recognition and reputation wise. I do not know quality of education though. My inlaw graduated from UCB recently with an econ degree since he could not get into their business school. But in general I hear business majors from UCB have very little difficulty finding a job.

For the rest, hmm other UC’s I’m not too familiar with there Bus Admin programs. I would check them out. Some might not even have them.

Santa Clara has a pretty well regarded business school if I remember correctly.
