I have been doing research myself, but I am continually frustrated by researching a school and reading about how great it is and then reading that it doesn't have auditions in Los Angeles or somewhere reasonably close (a day's drive absolute tops). Due to a low income of my own, and my dad being unemployed due to the writer's strike I just can't afford to travel farther than a day's drive for auditions. If y'all wouldn't mind letting me know which schools you know to have auditions in my area, I would be forever thankful.

So far my list of LA auditions has:
UCLA
CSUF
Tisch
Santa Clara
Otterbein
Point Park
UArts
U of Arizona (not in LA, but in Vegas, which I can do)
U of Central Oklahoma (no audition for BM in Musical Theater...as far as I can tell from the website)
Ithaca
(Possibly) U of Miami
UCI

I know some schools not listed here do have the option of sending in a VHS tape, but I have a feeling it's not the best option and I may as well limit my choices to ones I can audition for in person. Also, dance is one of my stronger areas, so I would lose out on showing that.

I know that Boston Conservatory, University of Hartford (Hartt MT) and Emerson all will be in LA the weekend of Feb 9th-11th, but I believe all their application deadlines have passed.

Emerson does not take tranfers for the BFA.

The Unifieds link that lynn provided should show you several possibilities for LA Unifieds as many schools attend.

Marymount Manhattan is in San Francisco on Jan. 19.

Santa Clara does not have auditions.

The thing is, some schools' application deadlines have passed. Another issue is that SOME schools require an application to be filed in order to line up an audition appointment (not all follow this procedure though) and in those cases, since you don't have an app filed, it is late now and audition slots may be filled up.

You need to see which schools take transfers. Also, transfer deadlines may differ.

Have you looked into Cornish? University of Oklahoma? Webster? These may be possibilities for you.

Is Hartt no longer on your list? That was the one school on a previous list you posted that I thought was your best option.

If you have the stats for UCLA, have you not considered USC? They have a BA and a BFA and then a MT Minor.

I want to add something that you may seem insensitive, and I apologise in advance. But we live on the West Coast, and my D goes to school on the East Coast, and it is really expensive to fly back and forth for breaks and everything. If you will struggle to pay for transportation for an audition, it may leave you stranded back east for holidays and such. If we want to see her in a show, it is an additional expense. (One thing to look at for schools for you is whether Southwest Air flies into that city- they really do force all the other air carriers to lower fares!)
BTW, I really feel for everyone who is being affected by the writer's strike. It is such a complicated matter, and the fact that there is no discussion going on is is very sad.

Anothermom-w-q: Don't worry, it's not insensitive. If I do get into a school outside of California, my parents won't be able to fly out to see me perform, and I'll only be able to come home for Christmas and summer (no Thanksgiving, sad), but it will all be ok. Since I've been in college two years already I'm ok with not getting to see them all the time, and it will be worth it to get a quality education. I know they love me even if they can't come see me on stage, haha. And when the time comes that I pick a school, I'll only be traveling to one place and back, as opposed to a bunch of different state for a bunch of different auditions. Also, when the writer's strike ends (whenever that may be) travel might become a possibility again. Thank you for bringing up that concern though. =)

Soozievt: Santa Clara has auditions for scholarship (which I would need going there) coming up at their school, thats the auditions I meant, sorry for not being clear. I'm currently in contact with Hartt figuring out if they will grant me late application. I looked into USC as well, but I just don't really want to go to their school (and they are my family's big football rival! jk). I remember looking at Webster and deciding I didn't like it for some reason, I don't remember exactly what though. Thanks for your other suggestions, your ones on the other thread were a great help!

Lynnm: THANKS! I've actually never seen that before....yeah, I'm new to this whole huge audition process. I will definitely look into the schools on that website.

Looks like maybe you are already going to the Unifieds since that is where Otterbein, etc will be auditioning in L.A.

Another program to check out in California is the one at Chico State. I don't know anything about it - but we know someone there who loves it. They have a B.A. in Musical Theatre - and it looks like a non-audition program. The admissions website says that they are still accepting applications for the fall.

So schools actually hold auditions that aren't at their campus or at the unifieds? That's fantastic! It'll be very good news if I can travel to LA for a few schools (in addition to the unifieds) instead of across the country. :)

letscrshtheparty- UCLA is lax on grades, but they do give priority to people who have fulfilled the UC requirements. CMU, as stated by gem, has auditions in LA. That is a lot of auditions. I hope they are spaced out to give you breathing room. best of luck!
