Given that BU and VCU fall in this, why are their BS/MD programs so sought after?
You need to maintain 3.5 to get into MD program even if you are in the BS/MD program right?

This is why VCU is sought after. A rigorous education makes for a great doctor.

Honestly, VCU GMED isn’t that hard. My bro is in the program in his 4th semester and pulling a 4.0 GPA. He took the first semester of Orgo this fall too. Obviously, the Honors College is not a walk in the park, but its not impossible either. There are hard classes like Orgo, but that would be for any pre-med student. Its not hard in the sense that if you study its still impossible; if you study you should get the required GPA. Honestly, they wouldn’t let you in unless you could get the gpa. I guess you can say its hard compared to the non-honors VCU undergrad. VCU is sought after because its in a nice city (Richmond), its relatively inexpensive, the honors college is great, MCAT not required (heard from bro it is going to be eventually, but not for people who start this year) and you can apply out and still have your spot reserved at MCV (this is the only program I know of that allows this). Also the community service requirements help you prepare, its a great program, but I don’t think its that hard, still really competitive though.
