schools with music industry/production

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows any schools with a good music program, preferably in the northeastern area (with a music industry/production/tech major/minor). So far I'm looking at Northeastern University, Penn State, James Madison University, SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Oneonta, Saint Rose, and Five Towns College. My parents don't want me to go too far from home and I'm from the Syracuse area in New York if that helps at all, so I'm not considering Belmont or Full Sail. I also play clarinet, piano, and saxophone if this information helps. Thanks in advance.

Pitt has an excellent music program.

I would second Pitt for Jazz (one of the best in the country). [Jazz at Pitt](http://www.pitt.edu/~pittjazz/index.html)

Given the OP’s instruments, including clarinet and saxophone, Jazz may be an interest.

I’m not sure about Pitt for music production and music industry.

Do those schools have a nice campus? I think I want a school with an actual campus as opposed to a school like berklee where all the buildings are just spread out through the city. And clarinet is my principle instrument, I’m not as strong on saxophone, I just play it in my school’s jazz band, if that helps…And thanks for responding

They are both urban but they have defined campuses, albeit with city streets running through. Drexel’s campus abuts Penn’s campus. Drexel’s is not the most aesthethically pleasing campus but they have been investing a lot in improving it in recent years. Pitt’s campus has many nice areas with Pittsburgh’s Carnegie museums and music hall and a large city park abutting campus. Here’s a link to a good online tour of Pitt from a sports website (it starts with the sports facilities and moves on to a campus tour): [Scout.com: OT: for visitors to the board: Pitt’s facilities and campus](http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=141&f=2455&t=5547158)

Pitt’s campus is urban but it’s walkable and has a good bus system. It also has some amazing buildings like the Cathedral of Learning. Looks like the Great Hall and Room of Requirement from Harry Potter.

Is Northeastern a good school? I haven’t visited it yet, but from the research I’ve done online, it looks like it has a nice music industry major and nice facilities. And also, how’s fredonia or saint rose if you’ve heard of them…my parents really like those schools cause they’re closer to home.

I know 3 seniors who are heading off to college in the fall for music. One is going to West Chester University, one to Millersville University, and one to Ohio State University.
