I am looking to major in music industry at a school in or around the Northeast area. I would prefer not to play an instrument, but I understand that many schools with music industry majors require one to play an instrument at the school. I am able to play an instrument and would be willing to go into a music industry program that requires some instrument classes, but only if there are very few classes, and much less than a normal music program.

I understand that Drexel and NYU have good programs. What else? (Would prefer a school around 1225-1275 SATs, and 27-28 ACT)

Scan the list of Master Acceptances and final decisions (a link to the '07 Master is within the opening posts of the '08 thread). You can see who (if anyone) was accepted at a specific program. You might pm or email them using CC’s features. This year, the poster albsmom1 has a son who will be attending Drexel in the fall for that major.

Within the threads I linked in your other post, there were a number of options, and a list of schools by geographic region here [AES Education Directory by Geographic Area](AES Education Directory by Geographic Area). DId you go through those and find anything that might fit?

For information, if the program is listed as a BM, it is most likely an audition (instrument required & voice IS an instrument) based program. You may want to look for BS offerings, which tend to the engineering/acoustic science aspects, or if you can find a BA program, there is less likely to be an instrumental (or audition) requirement.

Hi newyorkmets1: Have you considered Northeastern University in Boston? It has a music industry program. Also University of Miami (Florida) has a music industry program. I know it’s not in the northeast area, but I thought I 'd mention it nonetheless.
