Does NYU really accept anyone on the spot?

Anything is possible. It was a boy, and must’ve had a great audition. I’m sure if his grades aren’t/weren’t up to the requirement they’d rescind.

I have the same question. Also, how was this information gained? Are these all self-reported or is this a ‘master list’ from multiple sources?

Self-reported by students (I didn’t post their a names for obvious reasons.)

These aren’t all acceptances. Also included are rejections, callbacks, and waitlists. Some students choose to post if they are accepted/waitlisted however.

@glassharmonica, no, unless there is some sort of a backdoor thing going on (highly doubtful knowing the collaborative nature of their admissions process and how the academic side also plays a role), NYU does not do on the spot offers. There is no need for it. Nor would there be an email acceptance sent on 2/14 with studio TBD. Makes absolutely no sense. Students accepted early to Tisch applied ED and heard in December.

Of course self reporting in FB is no different than self reporting here in CC. You hope what people report is true but you never know. Sometimes it isn’t.

Actually @halflokum NYU Tisch has ED 2 and the notification date is Feb. 14th. I also have a friend who got accepted then. Look it up on the website, that person is not lying they just haven’t gotten there studio yet.

NYU does not send studio placements out until after the April 1 acceptances go out. I never heard of anyone getting their placements before that.

You’re probably right @actingmom18 . I guess MT students get placed though.

Yes, I also heard about Tisch ED 2 acceptances and rejections in the middle of February. But of course the RD applicants won’t hear from NYU until the end of March. I have a question about Fordham. It’s not an ED but still, the acceptance letter arrived in February? Wow! And nothing on CalArts yet?

And thanks a lot for the thread! It’s exactly what I needed now during the stressful waiting  Most of my D’s schools have not sent out anything yet then.

We have a friend who was accepted a week or so ago to Tisch ED–but they don’t assign schools. I mean, I guess it’s possible for this year? But they haven’t done it earlier.

But I’m confused, hopenest–this list is for anything, acceptances, rejections, whatever, and you can’t tell which is which? So is it just to see how fast people hear one way or the other?

Yes, it’s basically to see which schools have started the process of notifying students. You can sometimes tell if a student got accepted due to them receiving a phone call rather than a letter(like at SMU).

@hopenest you are so right. I stand corrected. I forgot all about ED2. It is also possible for someone to know already that they are assigned the MT studio. You can say that you are only willing to be considered for MT and not for any of the acting studios. So if that is what you put on your application, and your are admitted ED or ED2, you know it is for MT. If you say you are open to any studio placement, you will not know until sometime in April which studio.

By the way, over in the MT forum someone has attempted a similar thread with data here in the same format. But the thread started with a different purpose so it has a funny name which makes it hard to know that is what it is for. If you are curious, here it is: <a href=“Audition Results compared to Audition Order - Musical Theater Major - College Confidential Forums”>Audition Results compared to Audition Order - Musical Theater Major - College Confidential Forums;

< haha @hopenest very true except in SMU’s case the letter was an acceptance to the Theatre program, a phone call came the next day :P

It doesn’t look like SMU is letting people know their academic acceptance or rejection status for another few weeks.

Fordham had an early audition for the first time this year, so it is possible they sent an acceptance.

What is the facebook group called?

The Unified

Thank you!

Are you able to find it on facebook itsthejourney? I wasn’t so am wondering if there is a way in I don’t know about?
