Does anyone know when Schreyers sends out their notifications? My nephew was given a partial scholarship to Dartmouth but Schreyers is really his first choice. (He's also accepted into Penn State for pre-med and Princeton for biology.) Dartmouth is pressing him for a commitment and they want one NOW. They seem offended he won't commit. I don't know how long they will wait and the scholarship is for a lot of money, at least as far as our family is concerned ($28,000 per year). I told my brother about this board but he can't access it from work so I told him I would write on his behalf. Everyone here has been so helpful and kind to me in the past. Thank you in advance for any info and good luck to all!!!

SHC sends out its notifications in Late Feb. I received mine last year around Feb 28th. The deadline to commit to colleges is May 1st, all Dartmouth can really do is talk and complain until then. I'd say wait and play the game a little bit longer, he may end up getting alot more $$ outta Penn State if he is accepted in the SHC.

Was he accepted Early Decision to Dartmouth (in which case he is locked in unless he can show that the financial award is not sufficient), or is he an athletic recruit? (I was not aware that either Dartmouth or Princeton do Early Action.)

If he is an athletic recruit, the rules may be a bit different, as he would need to sign a letter of intent before the May 1 reply day, at least as I understand things.

He is not an athlete and did not go early decision. He won a competitive scholarship from the University based on SAT's, GPA, EC's and teacher rec's - the scholarship is funded by an alumni. He has also been dual enrolled at a PSU campus and has 15 PSU college credits and a 4.0. He also has 6 AP's from high school with a 3.9 unweighted GPA. He said at his interview Dartmouth was very impressed with the dual enrollment and made a very big deal out of it. He thinks it weighed heavily in Dartmouth's decision on the scholarship. He went to PSU local campus the past two summers. He will be the first in our family to go to college and we are very proud of him. He's a fine young man and a very very nice young man.

My daughter is also dual enrolled (she's a high school junior hoping to get into UP next year) and she really loves the dual enrolled program. Any younger students out there reading this should look into the program

Does anyone else have any association or knowledge of dual enrollment?

Am I missing something here? How is a student admitted to Dartmouth and Princeton, regular decision, before April 1 which is the notification date? I only know of one case where this happened; a major donor to a university was dying in his hospital bed, this became known to the university and his son, who had applied early decision, was admitted a couple of days before the early decision notification date so that the dad could die knowing his son was admitted to the university. Besides this extreme and understandable circumstance, how does this happen?

Well, I know that Dartmouth already sent out a bunch of likely letters (mid February) with early notification of acceptance for certain regular decision students.
