Is anyone planning on applying to an honors college of a state school? My main safety is Penn State (I am in-state, of course) and I've already heard some good things about the Schreyer Honors College. Do you have any opinion of it? Of other honors programs/colleges?

yeah, i got into PSU a while back and i'm planning to apply to Schreyer's. it's one of the best honors programs in the country. the average SAT/GPA of Schreyer's admits is equal or higher than Stanford and several Ivy League schools.

i'm also applying to UMD, but you don't need to apply to their Honors Program. if you're qualified they just give it to you. i think GTech is the same way, and i'm also applying there.

edit: btw... your screenname doesn't have anything to do with The Office does it? it reminds me of The Office for some reason...

Thanks for the info. And, haha, no. My sn has nothing to do with the office.

I'm applying to the honors college at the UofA. The program's basically like an octopus where the honors college branches off to every other college. Thus, you can have the option of taking regular classes in addition to specialized honors classes. On top of that, you have many opportunities in research.

The Barrett Honors college at ASU is regarded as one of the best in the nation. It's a small school within a big college, so you'll be taking the same classes with about ~300 people. If you like attention and small-communities (I personally don't), then this honors college may be a match for you.

P.S. My essay's due tomorrow, so feedback ASAP is perfect!
