Science major and letter of recommendation

Hi, I'm applying to a few top schools as a chemistry major. However, my best letters of rec will come from my English and Spanish teachers. Is this a problem?

I have a lot of demonstrated interest in writing and the humanities. I'm just worried about my science major and two letters of rec from humanities teachers.

I suggest getting one from a math/science teacher and the other from a english/humanities teacher.

^I want to. However, I believe my English and Spanish teachers would write better recs than my math teacher.

Harvard doesn’t care about what you think your major will be, because it’ll probably change.

thanks for the info :)

For Harvard those recs will be fine, but you mention “a few top schools”. I suggest you check on the requirements of these schools you are considering. Some schools do require one to be Humanities and one Math/Science. MIT is one of those schools. I do not recall which others have that requirement, but it would not be hard to determine for your list.

S, who applied for undergrad in 2005, had his best recommendations from his Spanish and English teachers. Because of MIT, he did have to get a recommendation from his Physics teacher, who was not someone you would want writing your rec but he was his best option. ALL schools, that did not require that math/science one, got only the Spanish and English recs and he was applying as an engineer. The ONLY school he did not get into was MIT. He was accepted to eight schools including two Ivies so apparently his two humanity recommendations did not hurt him.

^Thanks. I’ll definitely use the English and Spanish recs then :)
