There was a very active thread for this program last year and there seems to be none yet for 2016 so I’m creating it Feel free to ask questions, answer them, etc. I think some student reps of the program check once in a while so you might be able to ask them questions too.
I’m aiming to apply, but I consider it a long-shot (with only ca. 60 openings, I don’t think anyone can be considered a shoe-in for admissions).
Ideally, I’d study Economics and Political Science while at Sciences Po’s Transatlantic Program in Reims and then an economics major (either Financial Economics or an interdisciplinary major) at Columbia.
Hi! I’m planning to apply for either Le Havre or Reims, and I really can’t decide. I’m curious about the average profiles of the students who have been admitted before as well. So if anyone knows something, please share!
I will probably study Sociology at Sciences Po and International Business at Columbia.
I got rejected by Wharton ED… I honestly don’t know if I should apply for this program anymore Seems to be even more competitive than Wharton, and I couldn’t even get into that.
I’m applying to Menton, anyone else? And I’m planning to study Economics.
I didn’t really understand one part of the application, though. They ask for extracurricular activities, volunteer work or work experiences, then they also ask for your CV. Do you have to submit both? Because in my CV I list all of my extracurricular activities, so it would just be the same thing…
@janevyl Wharton as in, UPenn? From what I gather, in this program both schools look at the applications, and then talk about them. So basically, you have to have both schools like you or one like you enough to convince the other. That makes it a little less daunting
@bubbledrizzles I had the same question for the extracurriculars but the description section is less than 40 characters!! So basically if you want to put in any info about the activities it has to be in a separate CV. I filled out their form because it looks like you have to, but I didn’t detail much, and instead I attached a CV. Honestly, though, if you’ve filled out the Common App it goes pretty fast - just copy & paste a majority of the stuff
Hey! I’m an int’l student (1/2 French) applying to Menton like you @bubbledrizzles. Other I’m super interested in the Sciences Po programm “single” degree also applied to Bard College and Bard Berlin. I guess I’ll check European universities after January How’s your application going? Mine’s pretty much done I’m juste rererererereading my essays to polish them at 100%
Hi! American student here. Applying for the campus at Reims as well as the Dual B.A between Sciences Po and UBC, and their dual degree program with Keio University. Also applying through Sciences Po for their normal track program at Reims.
Submitted most of my application material, but my recommendation letters haven’t been received yet. I called in and apparently the admissions office is pretty swamped at the moment with a pile of unopened envelopes. Didn’t care to submit my SAT scores until last week so hoping that those get in on time as well.
@tibrocks
They have some figures on their website here. https://gs.columbia.edu/sciences-po/glance
With 101 students in their last two years at columbia and 111 at their first two years at SciencesPo,on average 56 students matriculated into the program for each of these past two application cycles. The past threads about this program had some representatives from the Dual BA say that about 400-500 people applied in the last few cycles. Assuming an 80% matriculation rate, the acceptance rate is probably somewhere around 15%.
I doubt they have quotas for the ratio of american to international students but a majority at 54% in the program are international.
But it does show that there is an increasing supply of slots… hopefully a larger increase this year… but there are just no clear figures as to the demand/increase of demand.
So did you finish? mine is finally done and I’m quite happy with the quality of my essays, I worked so much on them I feel it’s the best piece of writing I’ve ever done. However, my grades aren’t the best and weirdly they haven’t received my TOEFL score (Is it normal?). So, no idea really.
Thanks for the info @SirVinnie !
So now, we’ll have to wait until February right? Good luck to all of you!
Yeah!
Weird, have your recommendations and SAT scores been checked off? I mailed my materials a week ago and they’re still unaccounted for. Some other threads from past years say that they don’t check them off all the time when they receive your materials.
It could be that emails are just starting to be sent now and that around 15th February, it’s pretty much done. I don’t have much hope in it and anyways I sent it so late if I receive an interview it’ll be closer to 15th February
