Sciences Po Columbia Dual BA 2017 Entry

@DualBAapplicant No, the link doesn’t work for me either!! Thank goodness I wasn’t the only one with this problem… Maybe it’s a glitch :-/ I’ll contact Sciences Po after the break and let you guys know what they said.

@DualBAapplicant @ginjoe Hi, also applying I made a new topic for others students here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/1953304-uc-berkeley-sciences-po-dual-ba-application-2017.html#latest

Hi, my SAT score wasn’t too great and I was wondering whether it would negatively impact my chances at acceptance greatly? The rest of my application (grades, extracurriculars, internships) is fine, but my SAT score certainly isn’t up to Columbia standards.
Anyone here know whether it would be a hugely determining factor?

@loverofcats Hi, I recommend you read through the forum; it’s pretty interesting most of the time and posts #45 and #46 deal with your question :slight_smile:

@DualBAapplicant Thanks!

Hi @loverofcats!
This may come off as a bit clichéd, but they definitely practice a holistic admission process. I had a very (especially in comparison to Columbia standards) average (arguably below-average…) SAT score, but I still got in! Make sure you show interest in the program and how it fits with your aims for higher education or an aspired profession, I think that’s the most important thing :slight_smile:

Alright, I’ve been off this way too long! Good luck to everyone who applied! Just so you know what to expect - don’t worry if you don’t hear back for a while, SciPo is very disorganized. If you’ve applied to Columbia Dual BA, contact Columbia, and Patrick Martinez in particular. They tend to answer quickly, and if you don’t you can call them and it’s almost guaranteed they’ll pick up. Looking through my emails, I got contacted for an interview on the 9th of February, and they usually run 15-30 of February, with a final admissions decision at the end of March/start of April. That being said, if you don’t get contacted for an interview I’m not sure what that means, I’m pretty sure all successful applicants go through one :confused: However, do not freak out and lose it if you haven’t heard back by mid-February! The Reims director, dunno about the other campuses, recently left, it was a mess with him so it’s even worse now, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you hear back later than previous years. I’ll try to be on here more especially around then, but since I don’t get notifications the best way to contact me is by email if you’ve got specific questions (vossosaristotelis@yahoo.com). Good luck everyone!

Thanks! Gives me more hope now I guess! :slight_smile:
@summmm

Has anyone gotten any interviews yet? I’m super nervous because I read somewhere (not sure if its right haha) that interviews were sent out on Feb 9th last year omg!!

Hi everyone. I’m wondering when they will give out interview invitations. Many posts from previous years say February 9th or 10th, but I got an email from Columbia SciencesPo stating we will recieve an update on our application status by February 15th, so might it be then?

I’m anxiously waiting also, haven’t gotten any interview emails yet! yeah i think it might be soon though bc i also got the email saying by feb 15th

Hey all! Please DO NOT STRESS. Like honestly. First of all, it’s spring break here the coming week (SciPo), so if our director is somewhere getting trashed I swear I would not be surprised. That having been said, I did get an invite on the 9th last year, which was a tuesday. Maybe they’ll send them out at the start of the week? Maybe they’ll send them later today? Who knows. There’s also a snowstorm in NYC, so people probably aren’t working. If there’s one thing that the whole college application process taught me, it’s to chill, take it a step at a time, and trust that it’ll work. It sounds cliche and silly but it’s true. You have no idea how much stress I went through, how many sleepless nights I had, all for what? It worked out in the end. Enjoy your last few months in high school. You’ll miss it (or at least most of you will). You only get to be a senior once, right?

Interview invitations are out!

Ahhh I got the interview!! Beyond excited and happy!

I got an interview! So excited!

How were you notified?

@queen67 We were notified by email…

Does every applicant receive an email regardless of the decision?

I thought (and still think) every applicant is notified but I don’t know :-/

From previous threads, not everyone receives an invitation to interview.
