Sciences: Williams vs. Middlebury

Could someone elaborate of the quality of the sciences at these two schools? Specifically chemistry/biochemistry. I'm not necessarily looking for big research opportunities because these are LACs, but I want to have professors who are experienced and very dedicated to teaching in-depth material. Also, if you could compare the facilities and the amount the school devotes to the the sciences. Finally, if there are any notable professors or any on-campus research opportunities available.

Thanks

Go back to the October threads, and you will find your answers.

Here’s one such thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/williams-college/776492-sciences-williams.html

Both of these colleges offer excellent research opportunities. Many students on both campuses end up entering top graduate programs.

Williams has a lot of math majors, but, I think it’s mainly because of one professor. :)

Middlebury’s Bicentennial Hall is one of the finest science centers to be found at a liberal arts college.

Both Williams and Middlebury are located in areas with abundant opportunities for exploring local flora and fauna. The classroom doesn’t end when you exit the building.

johnwesley: the Williams math department has some of the most consistently great professors of any department in any college in the country, so much so that I don’t even know which particular professor you’re trying to allude to.

Very true. One Williams math professor received the Robert Foster Cherry Award from Baylor this year. A second professor, still with the department received that same award in 2003.

Could you tell me which professor? We are meeting with professors next week - I think the math professor is Adams. Thank you!
