Could someone elaborate of the quality of the sciences at these two schools? Specifically chemistry/biochemistry. I'm not necessarily looking for big research opportunities because these are LACs, but I want to have professors who are experienced and very dedicated to teaching in-depth material. Also, if you could compare the facilities and the amount the school devotes to the the sciences. Finally, if there are any notable professors or any on-campus research opportunities available.

Both Williams and Middlebury are located in areas with abundant opportunities for exploring local flora and fauna. The classroom doesn’t end when you exit the building.

johnwesley: the Williams math department has some of the most consistently great professors of any department in any college in the country, so much so that I don’t even know which particular professor you’re trying to allude to.

Very true. One Williams math professor received the Robert Foster Cherry Award from Baylor this year. A second professor, still with the department received that same award in 2003.
