<p>Just got a letter in the mail with an order form for a scooter to get around campus.</p>
<p>Is this the thing to do? Or do students just typically walk around campus or bike?</p>
<p>If you need to commute to campus from somewhere, it may be an option to consider. If you are just going from one class to another, walk or bike.</p>
<p>Get one. Trust me.</p>

It pretty much saves your ass by getting to class on time(if you live off campus).</p>
<p>I’m interested now. Do scooters have better parking options? Can they pretty much park wherever bikes can?</p>
<p>Scooters are quite a bit wider than bikes, so I doubt it. Unless you’re looking for a car replacement for generally moving around town, I’d suggest against a scooter because a bike is just as fast around campus what with the 20mph speed limit.</p>
<p>If you park it at a bike spot, the police would be more then happy to remove it for you.</p>
<p>You have to buy a motorcycle parking decal, then you can park anywhere there’s a little motorcycle emblem on this map: <a href=“TAPS”>TAPS;
<p>If you notice, the upper right hand quadrant of the map doesn’t have much parking of any sort, and that’s where the majority of all classes are. There’s also always a good chance the parking areas will fill up (though there’s a pretty big motorcylce section not too far south from turlington).</p>
<p>I repeat, a bike is an option for if you’re living off campus, but pointless if you’re living on campus, unless you don’t have a car. I’ve always personally preferred a leisurely free bus ride to having to drive to campus (and the parking decals cost money). But if you can’t figure out how to follow the bus schedule, a scooter may be an option. Also if you don’t live on a good bus route, a scooter is also an option.</p>
<p>The main reason to get a scooter is if you were planning to drive to campus from an off campus location. If you live off campus the only parking decal you’re eligible for (for a car) is absolutely terrible. Off campus people are also eligible for the motorcycle decal, that’s the main reason people get them.</p>
<p>Yes definitely get one. Gas mileage, virtually you can park anywhere near your classes.</p>
<p>UF campus is a scooter-friendly parking zone. You’ll find ample scooter spots everywhere. Some days the parking can get full, so you’ll just find a spot here and there. But normally, it’s fine on a regular day.
Plus, having a scooter can save you some gas and it’s so convenient to go get something from Publix or a quick visit to your friend. But bikes are just as good. It’s up to the person’s preference.</p>

Bike, if not, bus is probably the best thing out there.</p>
<p>If you look at my original post I was asking if it was commonly used for getting around campus, not the entire town. </p>
<p>But I could see how it would be useful for off campus students.</p>
