I know that this has probably been asked a thousand times on this forum, but... I see a lot of information about using bikes and scooters and longboards, but not much about scooters. How many people ride scooters around campus? Like these:

I'm thinking about this instead of a bike, because I might have trouble fighting campus foot traffic on a bike... but I don't want to look stupid if no one else rides a scooter. Thoughts?

a fair amount of people ride scooters around here. i mean obviously there are a lot more skateboarders and bikers, but you won’t look stupid at all if you ride your scooter to your classes.

and most if not all of the scooters i’ve seen have been those razor ones that were wicked popular like, 7 years ago?, or at least that same style. you will probably look very stupid if you get one of those scooters with the 14" wheels, haha.

not too many people use scooters… I might see one or two a day (compared to dozens of bikes and longboards/skateboards). scooters are definitely not “popular.” That being said, nobody really cares. It isn’t like people are going to stare at you for using a scooter. So if you want a scooter, use one. But if you get one, definitely go for a small one, if you’re worried about standing out too much.

Scooters suck. Trust me; I’ve been riding one to my classes all year. They’re dangerous going downhill and useless going uphill. Riding over even the smallest crack in the road will make you eat it every single time. And if you buy the $30 one like I did, the pieces start coming loose after a couple months and your back will start hurting if you’re over 5’8" or so. Get a bike.

I agree with ManOfFaith. My first year I got a scooter; my second year I got a skateboard. I have to say, even skateboards are safer than scooters, and they’re faster too.

get a scooter with large wheels, get a bike, or a longboard. The longboard is the most advantages because of it’s the most convenient, but it gets annoying skating/walking uphill.

I’d say get a trail bike and take advantage of cruising along faster than anyone else along with the random perks you wouldn’t think of like the trails next to campus. They’re actually not half bad at all, and there’s a couple jumps around campus that are definitely cool to check out even if you’re a beginner at any mountain biking related stuff! My first time “mountain biking” was here, and I nailed more than a few pretty awesome jumps while catching some pretty cool sights in that little forest.
