I am considering Early Action at Yale. I got a 35 on the ACT, but I got a 1490 on the SAT, which, while not a bad score, is not particularly high for Yale. I also took the SAT IIs and got 790 (Math2) and 800 (literature).
I already sent all my scores, including my SAT score, to Yale, because of their all scores policy.
Will my SAT I score significantly impact my chance of getting in? I am also considering ED at Brown, which does not have all-scores. Should I not bother applying early action to Yale because of my SAT score?
Actually, you did not need to send the SAT1 to Yale and can score choice the SAT2’s. You would need to send in all ACT’s. What’s done is done, but I don’t think the 1490 is what is going to get you rejected from Yale. Unless Brown is your clear number 1 choice, I wouldn’t apply Brown ED.
Would it have been possible to send only my SAT IIs and my ACT? Yale says online: “And if you choose to use a combination of SAT and ACT test results, you must report all scores from both testing agencies” and “If you want us to have any scores from both the SAT and ACT, you must report all scores from both exams. SAT Subject Tests are recommended but not required. Applicants may be selective in reporting SAT Subject Tests.”
Yes, @Cathy1917. Consider the SATII as a separate test. All SAT (I) have to be reported, OR, all ACT have to be reported, OR all of both if you prefer. In any of those cases, it is up to you whether or not to report SATII, but it is recommended.
Yes, from the Yale website:
"Required Testing:
…You should report all scores you have received on whichever test you choose to submit. If you submit both the SAT and ACT to Yale, you should submit all scores received on both tests. [Note “whichever you choose to submit” and if you choose to submit both then you must submit all]
Further from the FAQ page on the question of which scores to submit:
A.Yes. As long as you provide a complete set of score reports from one testing agency (either the College Board or ACT), you are not required to report scores from both. You may choose to report either all of your SAT results or all of your ACT results. If you want us to have any scores from both the SAT and ACT, you must report all scores from both exams. SAT Subject Tests are recommended but not required. Applicants may be selective in reporting SAT Subject Tests.

All of this being said, I would not stress about the 1490. I would urge you though to check the FAQ pages/and other advice links on most of the admissions websites of the schools you will be applying to. There are usually a lot of good practical pieces of advice found there.
