I think I am only sending my ACT to NU and I have a 32.

However they say they recommend 3 SAT IIs.
I have taken 3 but if I submit SAT IIs, I cannot use score choice to avoid sending my SAT Reasoning score.

These are my SAT scores:
SAT Reasoning
Math 590
CR 780
Writing 780

SAT IIs
US History 710
Literature 770
French With Listening 680

Should I only submit my ACT or should I submit my SATs as well...even if it means they have to see that math score?
*If it helps at all...I am not naturally good at math BUT I am in AP Calculus AB and one of my teacher recommendations is from my AP Calc teacher, proving that I put forth enormous amounts of effort to achieve the grade that I do.

Your ACT score is pretty good. It is in the top half of the middle 50% (30 to 33). You could be safe sending just your ACT scores. My counselor double checked when we decided to send just my ACT’s (also a 32!), and that is just fine. Especially if your ACT’s are pretty consistent, it may look much better than sending the SAT in as well. Though a 1370 is not too bad, and a 2150 is also nice, that math score is significantly below the range for NU students. They also usually look at just the raw score, which will make the math score more evident.

I was in a pretty similar position as you were, with a 610/740/730, and I chose to err on the side of caution. Though your CR and Writing scores are awesome, it might just be in your benefit to keep the 590 away from the admissions office for the time being.

ETA: Ahh, I missed the score choice thing. If it turns out you can’t do score choice (I thought you could opt for just SAT II’s?), then you don’t really lose anything in not sending in SAT II scores. They could help you, but they won’t hurt you for not being there. However, like Glenny, I was under the impression you could pick a testing date and send only that score in from the college board website.

My D is currently a sophomore at Northwestern and we had the same problem. This was before score choice. I would make positively sure the SAT I scores do not come with the SAT II scores. If you are at all unsure, just send the ACT. That’s what we ended up doing. She was accepted based solely on the ACT score and no SAT IIs.

You could probably send in just the ACT scores. That’s what I did, and then I self-reported the results of the SAT II’s. (Although in my case, this was because I didn’t want to spend the money to send in the official score report. I didn’t even take the SAT I.)

Have any of you actually used score choice? Because you definitely can just send SAT II’s. They show every test you’ve ever taken and then boxes to check which ones you want to send. You have to send SAT I’s as a package deal, but you can even only send 2 of the 3 SAT II’s you took on one say or whatever.
