Scores not making it in time???

hey guys for RD I just sent a couple sat scores yesterday...and I stubbornly decided not to pay an extra 31 dollars for rush shipping. I think they won't make it in time for the January 1-3 deadlines, but will colleges at least email me for scores or will they throw my app in the trash?

thanks

help? any response at all?

As far as I know it takes .8 seconds for your scores to reach a college.

Little data dump sent to colleges through e-mail; the colleges download the dumps themselves. That’s what I heard.

Scores do not have to arrive by Jan 1. If there before mid-Jan you will be fine; in fact many of those colleges accept scores from the Jan SAT test.

thank you guys for your prompt replies. gives me a lot of assurance

anyhow, the reason why i worry is cause the collegeboard says that the order from the 22nd (previous order) is pending… so apparently it takes a while for them to send scores…
but i guess it goes back to me refusing to pay a whopping 31 dollars for a rush shipping when score reports themselves are only 11 bucks.

Rush shipping is not much faster than regular. Moreover, many colleges state they don’t want rush shipping. CB sends scores by dumping them into an on-line account that each college has with CB. However, that does not happen instantaneously as surmised above because human beings have to process the orders and there are only a limited number of employees at CB that do that. When scores come out, particularly following the Dec test, tens of thousands of test takers just like you order scores sent during the short period after their release. Moreover, contrary to what many applicants may hope, those CB employees don’t work 24/7 and are actually off on weekends and holidays with the result that during this time in December there can be a processing delay of a week or even up to two weeks before the scores are actually dumped into the colleges on-line account. Besides that, the colleges take time to actually do a download of scores and match them with your on-line admissions file with the college so they can show them as received. That often takes more time than it does for CB to get the score into the account. Moreover, many colleges are not even doing any of that this week because they are also on holiday.

that’s good to know.
I’m just glad to know that colleges won’t throw your app in the trash right away and actually allow some time.
