I am currently a sophomore, and I will become a junior this fall. I have yet to take the actual SAT, but I just took 2 sat subject tests, in biology M and math level 2.
In biology, I got a 680
In math, I got a 760.
I want to get into the ivy leagues and major in computer science.
So my question is…I’ve done a lot of research about the top percentiles for the schools I’m interested in and my scores don’t really fall into the top percent. Should I retake both of these? Or should I not worry about biology since I’m not majoring in something bio related anyway and only take math again? I know some schools require a math and a science, so I’m not quite sure what to do. I would just take bio again, but I don’t think I can really be successful in it. Instead I could try physics or chem, but I would have to learn all the information by myself.
Thanks for any advice
Ivy League for computer science?
I think that you should spend the time figuring out which universities actually make sense, and doing well in your ongoing work.
Take more subject tests until you have two scores at or above 750 preferably, but 700 minimum.
Ignore the percentiles on math 2, the pool is very competitive.
Don’t go to an Ivy for CS. Waste of money.
Yeah, stay away from the Ivy’s if you want to do CS. There’s no point, as those schools aren’t really great at that. I heard Harvard might be okay, but still…
Look at schools that end in “Institute of Technology” (ei, MIT) they tend to be pretty good. Also check out the State schools, like California and IL.
Thank you
A 750+ meets the bar so if you need a science test figure something out. Don’t worry about the Math though, you did fine.
