I'm so very sorry that this happened, but start hunting for scholarships. Unfortunately, there aren't any other options unless you can make a strong case for the mishandling of your application. Call again and ask to have your filed pulled up and reviewed, and explain that you did file for FA. You might get nowhere, but it's worth trying. If you made a photocopy of your application before sending it in, that would be useful to have when you call.

International applicants can't apply for FA in subsequent years if they're accepted without a FA package, so either find a great source of outside funding or consider other schools that are financially possible.

I agree with ringer...apply for LOTS of scholarships! There are plenty of scholarships available. Some sites I use are fastweb.com and collegeboard.com. Good luck!

rgal, I'm so sorry this is happening. Really, that totally sucks. Do you have some sort of proof of sending off your financial aid documents to the financial aid office? Because if they received a financial aid application, it doesn't matter what you checked off on the box on the Common Application form. But if you did check off that you won't be applying for aid, and no finaid documentation is received at the office, then it seems reasonable that the Admission office would assume that you don't need aid.

Other than trying to find outside funding opportunities such as scholarships, I'm not sure what your next option is. I do know that the admission process for international students who need aid is very very tough - something like a 10% acceptance rate.

"so the admissions officer said tt bottom line, no fin aid because international admissions is not need blind!!!"

This suggests that had you indicated you would need aid, Wellesley would not have admitted you. So you aren't "screwed over by a financial aid mishap" so much as unable to pay for something you want, which is the case for lots of U.S. students too.

the admissions officer said that she could NOT concider my application w/ an aid application anymore, even if she thinks that i would still be admitted. she actually said that, so well...sigh.

oh wells.i dont think id be eligible for THAT much aid anyways. my parents offered to pay for 30 000 per year, but the rest i guess im going to have to loan out, since wellesley is my top choice rite now, and the rest of the east coast schools i applied to arent really what im looking for (now that i think about it).
