I kinda screwed up a semester in high school.
Freshman GPA: 3.9 / 4.0 (2 honor classes +.5 per class) WEIGHTED
Im a sophomore now, and I took 5 honors classes. I did badly in them the first quarter, 6 classes, 5 honors. 3.25 WEIGHTED.
Second quarter, 3.5 WEIGHTED
So my semester average doesnt look too pretty.. if I got straight A's for the rest of my high school years, which im confident i can do, what are my chances at ivy leagues/MIT/NYU/Boston college/boston U, just based on the GPA; forget the EC's; test scores; and everything else. i just wanna know where my grades could take me. i have a good reason to explain the poor grades though, its related to some family problems. could i explain it anywhere for colleges to see?

dude...its freshman year you shouldnt even be on this site...besides colleges dont even take freshman year into account so it wont affect you in any way....you could even have gotten straight D's and it wont matter.

well they do take it into account...some dont and then recalculate your gpa, but your gpa will be affected...but i still think you can get in. just dont screw up again.

also though...i know u said not to talk about ECs, but if you're seriously thinking Ivy, you must get some nationally recognized ECs...you don't even have perfect grades...

my school doesnt calculate freshman yr into gpa lolok

what kidna nationally recognized ec's are you talking about? i go to a private college prep high school, its pretty tough-academic wise-and they dont offer much 'big events' ec-wise and that stuff.
im a sophomore and im taking all junior and senior classes.
(spanish 3 honors, algebra2/trig honors, english2 honors(but we use a junior literature/vocab and junior/senior readings from public schools), us history honors, physics honors, scripture)
a regular class here is equivalent or higher to an honors class at a public high school, in addition to that, im taking all honor classes. im a sophomore, to reclarify.

um... you're a freshman, don't worry about it

I'm seeing the phrase "I'm a sophomore now"...confused..

and uh...vision, you stated

im a sophomore and im taking all junior and senior classes.
(spanish 3 honors, algebra2/trig honors, english2 honors(but we use a junior literature/vocab and junior/senior readings from public schools), us history honors, physics honors, scripture)

algebra 2 and trig, english 2 (EVEN IF you use junior/senior text), Spanish 3 (LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of sophomores are in Spanish 3, some even in 4. This is because they start spanish their 7th or 8th grade year, in high school.) are not Junior'Senior level classes. Not too sure about physics honors either.

BUT THEN AGAIN, I'm only blabbering about my school, your school is probably different. I'm just talking on a more general view, and how colleges see it.
