I'm currently a sophomore in highschool, and I'm extremely worried about colleges as I'm entering my junior year. I feel like I screwed up my entire highschool career with my freshmen year GPA: 3.41/4.00 scale.

I actually had all A's my freshmen year, with the only exception being an F in Geometry... but I still ended the year with an F in Geometry.

However, in my sophomore year, I currently have a 3.76/4.00 GPA. I also competed in the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair, am the captain of my debate team, participate in MUN, do science research internships, and volunteer teaching English as a second language. I'm in all honors courses this year as well. The only big problem with my sophomore year is a C in my first semester of Honors Chemistry.

For junior year, I'll be in 2 AP courses and all honors while simultaneously doing International Science Fair's, science research internships, volunteering, debating, and doing MUN.

Have I seriously screwed up my college chances, or am I still okay? I'm just feeling major anxiety right now.

Try to demonstrate an upward trend in GPA. Many schools will also forgive your freshmen grades.

I would do everything in your power to get that F off of your transcript. Many schools will allow you to replace it if you redo it online, or if you take it over the summer. It might not be very fun, but if you can find an online Geo class through the school, or from and independent service they will most likely switch grades.

get intel semis (realistically need final) for a good chance with that F unless you can get it off. How are you doing high level research with an F in geometry and how did you even comprehend the material as a freshman in rather ordinary classes? Also, UC’s don’t consider freshman gpa so keep that in mind.

@Alden97 Thank you! I’ll be sure to ask my school ASAP about retaking the course.
@theanaconda I have a 103 in Honors Alg II with Trigonometry right now, and I’ll be in Honors Pre-Calculus next year… I’m not horrible at math or anything, it was really just Geometry. I went to ISEF in my freshmen year and JSHS in my sophomore year, and I’m continuing with my research this summer again. I’ll be sure to keep UC’s in mind then.

I just reviewed my final year Geometry score, and I actually got a 67… which is a D+. Better than an F, but it’s still horrible.
