Hey everyone! My name is Nina, and I was accepted into Scripps under early decision I. I just wanted to see who else got accepted and will be a fellow Scrippsie next year... :)

I got in as well! So great to hear from a fellow '17er!!! Is the Facebook group working for you, by the way? I’ve been trying to get in since the day of my acceptance, but it’s now working. Congratulations, by the way!!! SOOOO psyched!

Congratulations to you too!! I can’t believe we have to wait a whole 8 more months to go out there! XD.

The Facebook group hasn’t worked for me either. I found the one for prospective students but they haven’t added me yet, and I don’t know if that is applicable to us anyways. Haha maybe it will be up later in the spring. You should friend me on Facebook, though: Nina Annette Appasamy

Anyways, I’m so happy to hear from you too! :)

1) I just joined CC just to comment on this thread. So please excuse me if I do something weird; I have no clue how this works, really.
2) Hi, guys. I wasn’t accepted ED I–and I haven’t technically been accepted at all yet–but I’m a finalist for the James E. Scripps and New Generation scholarship. I’m pretty sure that means I’m accepted, as long as I don’t/didn’t screw up senior year, which I didn’t. Glad to meet you guys, though. Why did you choose Scripps? I’m not completely sure if I will be attending yet or not, but it’s a good contender.
3) I can’t even find the Facebook group. Mind to link me?

Hey, don’t worry about it! You don’t sound weird at all, and anyways no one is judging you here. :)

I’m sure that means you’re accepted too-- I mean that’s Scripps’ most prestigious scholarship! Congratulations; that is so awesome!

Why I chose Scripps: I thought/think the really intimate and close-knit, undergraduate environment would be very conducive to learning and great in-class discussions as well as access to research/internship opportunities that undergraduates at a university with grad students would be barred from. I was intrigued also by the relationship Scripps has to the other colleges, making it the best of both a single-sex and co-Ed environment, which you might not get at, say, Wellesley or Smith, for example. (Even though both of those colleges have connections to other schools, it isn’t the same as the interwoven Claremont Colleges. An east coast comparable is the Barnard-Columbia relationship, though Columbia is larger than the 5 C’s and is right in the city-- depending on what campus environment you want).

As well, I was struck by how friendly, open-minded, and dedicated the students I met at Scripps were. They seemed really bright and down-to-earth. Overall, I just had a feeling that it was the right place for me… and out of some miracle (or accident) they actually accepted me, despite my previous conjectures. XD

Anyways, congratulations again! Good luck in your decision! :D

Oh and I haven’t been able to connect to the fb group either. :P

Hey guys!
I actually applied to the second early decision for class of 2017 and I’m freaking out because I haven’t really heard from anyone that got in through early decision 1. If you don’t mind, would any of you guys be willing to share your high school GPA, extracurricular, and SAT/ACT score? I would really appreciate it and congratulations to those who got in :)

@thisisisabella, hi. Yeah, like Gliese4Life said earlier, I don’t know for a fact, but I’m pretty sure I got in. I’d be happy to give you my information.

GPA = 3.89 unweighted, 4.09 weighted (this is at the end of my junior year). Took an average of 3 honors classes each year, but this is my first year with no honors, but 3 APs.
Extracurriculars = the only main ones I have are these: I volunteer at my local library about an hour a week. Not much, but I’ve been doing it since Soph. year, so it’s added up. I’m a part of lots of clubs at school, but not a lot of dedicated ones. I’m the president of my school’s Gay-Straight Alliance this year. I have a lot of family responsibilities because I live with 6 mentally and/or physically handicapped adults (my aunts and uncle).
ACT = 34 composite. I got two 30s before I got the 34. Not sure why it jumped so high–I just got lucky. I didn’t change my study habits or anything else.
SAT Subj Test = 760 on Math II and 590 on Physics. I don’t think I sent these to Scripps though.

Good luck. <3

Hey Everyone!
Although I didn’t apply ED, Scripps is definitely within my top 3 choices. I’m really worried that my test scores will bring me down. How much weight does Scripps put on test scores in admissions?

Is the Facebook Group working for anyone? I’m so psyched to see you guys in the fall!!

Hey everyone! I’m a senior at Scripps. Congratulations to all of you who have already been accepted, and for those of you still waiting - try not to be too antsy. There are many amazing schools out there, and I’m sure you will hear from them all soon.

As for the facebook group, we apologize for it being down for so long! There was a bug, and it wasn’t allowing any new requests to be accepted. The good news is, the group is up and running now! Just request to join, and someone will accept you. Get excited, share stories, ask questions. There are also many current students in the group that would be happy to answer questions.

I was just wondering if your admissions decision ever ended up on the portal. I applied ed2 and the email was sent out last night, but I haven’t received it yet. I’m afraid my school email is blocking it for some reason (I checked my spam). So I was just wondering if ill have to wait for a letter in the mail or if it’ll show up on my portal.

After a weekend of stress and multiple calls to the admissions office (they were very nice!), I got my acceptence letter in the mail (yes, the regular mail. still no email for me!) yesterday! I’m so excited to be at Scripps next year, and thank you @Gliese4Life for creating this forum! Where are you guys from? Do you know what you want to major in? (If you don’t mind me asking… I just can’t wait until the fall )

Congrats, Tay! My D is interested in psychology, but not totally sure it will be her major. We are from northern Virginia.

Hey guys-- sorry I haven’t been on here for awhile. XD

Congrats to Tay and to nova’s D. I’m from Pennsylvania, and am not entirely sure what I am going to study yet… What about you Tay? :). Haha don’t worry; I’m ridiculously excited too. Only about 7 more months until we start!!! Woot woot!

So, I’m an RD applicant, anxious to get my Scripps decision (like everyone else). Would anyone who got an ED decision mind sharing their stats?

Hello Everyone!

First off congrats on getting in! I am very excited for Scripps. However, recently my acceptance folder came in the mail and there was no news of any financial aid?? Usually schools that havent even given me aid will at least mention they were not given me anything but Scripps hasn’t sent anything at all? Can anyone help with this? Did anyone have a similar experience?

Hmm, in my acceptance folder there was fin aid, although I didn’t recognize it at first (it was in a packet inside the envelope). I’d double check. Then, go onto Scripps portal and click on my financial aid and log in. If you don’t see your award there, you should call–you may just be missing some documents. They seem to be pretty helpful, so don’t worry!
