Scripps College vs NYU

<p>Hi everyone!
I have been accepted to 4 schools total, but I have narrowed it down to Scripps and NYU (Steinhardt - Studio Art). They could not be more different! I live in the Southeast (deep south) and attend a very small (350 students) fine arts middle/high school in a medium sized city. I've always gone to small schools, and have attended my current school for 6 years. I study visual arts, and plan to major in Studio Arts at either college. I know NYU has so many opportunities, connections and notable faculty, but it's huge (and scary-ish)!!! I've visited NYU twice.</p>

<p>Scripps supposedly has a very good Studio Art program!!! It's one of its most popular majors. I honestly don't know a lot about Scripps because I have not visited yet, but will in 2 weeks! Obviously, sunny So-Cal is much farther away from me than the cold Northeast.
As far as cost, both have a large price tag that is quite similar. It's the number of students and location that are the most difficult for me. Should I choose a huge university in a metropolitan area or a small women's college with the unique Claremont opportunities/community in the suburbs of LA?
I made a pros and cons list for both colleges for a more in-depth view... there are obviously more pros/cons for NYU because I know more about it. Thanks!</p>

<p><em>+</em>+<em>+</em></p>

<p>New York University
Pros:
NYC / Greenwich Village
Studio Art Faculty (I liked them... seemed really cool and interesting)
Facilities outside of art studio building (i.e. library)
NYU dorms (stellar)
Study abroad programs
Diversity
No car necessary
Proximity to family (kinda, not really)
Opportunities and crazy connections possible
Huge assortment of clubs</p>

<p>Cons:
Price tag
Facilities (weird old art building)
HUGE undergraduate population
Weather
Art wasn’t that impressive from what I saw
Lost in the crowd feeling?
All art freshman year, no academics, except for the dreaded "Writing the Essay" class</p>

<p>~~~</p>

<p>Scripps College
Pros:
5C opportunities/community -- socially, as well as academically
Korean available at CMC (I've always wanted to take Korean)
Women’s college
Good art program (so I hear)
In-N-Out burger / Trader joe’s (yessss)
Southern California / Weather
Beautiful campus!!!</p>

<p>Cons:
Price tag
Suburbs / Not big city life that I thought I wanted
Don’t know anyone
People seem kinda normal from the fb group I have joined (no geeks like myself haha)
No official anime club... haha... or anywhere in the 5C system that I can find
Bad transport anywhere else if you don’t have a car</p>
