Do we think 7pm is too late?
I feel like it’s unlikely but there’s a small chance
ugh wish they didnt make us think it was coming out tonight!
all of my EA schools are doing the same thing where they post something saying ‘decisions coming soon’ but don’t give a date and gives everyone false hope
FWIW, up thread I posted that SCU announced that they received over 8,000 early apps this year and they had 8,280 last year published in a press release. So apps are roughly flat in terms of early (ED and EA) apps year over year.
@sushiritto maybe with TO it’s taking longer? I’m really pretty bummed that they posted on IG. They had to know that kids think that means tonight. First the email saying hold tight. Then another public message to say hold tight again!
A lot of people are saying tomorrow, but I have a feeling it might be Wednesday. I think Notre Dame and a lot of schools come out then. Furthermore, SCU has released on a Wednesday the last two years. I can’t be for sure, though.
@evergreen5 think SCU is following this thread? I hope so so that they get your message!
In general I think most schools have someone following these threads. I recall a few years ago they’d even post and reply, but I can’t remember what school that was.
Thanks. I did see the article for last year showing 8,280 early applicants but where did the 8,000 number for the class of 2025 come from? Just curious…
in the ‘we’re almost there!’ email scu sent last friday, they said they’ve been evaluating more than 8000 applications
SCU did like a comment on the post today that says “tomorrow? maybe, hopefully”
They seem to be liking most comments but who knows.
what post? oh actually I see it. On IG. They liked when someone wrote “tomorrow? maybe hopefully” So, tomorrow it likely is.
While we are waiting I’m wondering if they are going to be a little bit more generous this year with merit aid since the local health authority is one of the strictest and their early apps were flat? Thoughts?
Right. I do think yield will be down for these schools from OOS students who can’t get on campus to get a feel for the school. Lots of schools in CA are going to struggle with that.
okay so we think they are coming out today around 5 pm pst?
Yes. It is a really beautiful campus but compact, which is not super during Covid. The students were so happy and friendly there when we toured in February. It’s a shame not everyone can see that. It was a great vibe.
D will visit if she gets in and it’s a contender after all decisions are in. Even if we have to just walk around on our own. We do know a student there who is a junior. He can show us around maybe. Who knows what the Covid guidelines will be by April!
Does merit come with decisions? I looked at last year’s thread and it looks like the big awards (Presidential/Provost) were called out in the acceptance letter but then maybe other kids had to log onto some other SCU site the following day to see their awards? Deans Scholarships see to come in all different amounts up to $17k. I’d love to know how they decide each one of those amounts. Kids last year had such a wide range of Deans Scholarship amounts.
We hope to go to your side of the country in April.
I remember thinking when we drove away from SCU that I would be completely comfortable sending my kid there. It’s a great choice for S but more likely if the vaccines roll out without complications and our rates are down by Fall.
