I did do some sports and had a job for some time, and I do have an immigrant background (I came to the US at 9, and I speak three different languages).

I was rejected from Cal Poly, and when I called them, they said that only 48/750 of their biochemistry applicants were accepted. Which is ridiculous. Thats a 6% admit rate while the rest of the school is 37%.

I wasn't even really worried about Santa Clara until I was rejected from Cal Poly and now I'm worried that I should have applied for a different major...but honestly I don't know if SCU is quite as strict as Cal Poly in regards to the major. If they are...is there any way to change? I don't think its fair that my friends with much worse scores get in with a business major while I get rejected because I chose a certain major...

Does anybody know exactly how SCU operates in this regard? Thanks a bunch.
