SDSU 2017 Appeals

have you heard back?

This is absolutely ridiculous. I called them yesterday and the office of admissions never have a clear answer about anything. They told me that the 6-8 week deadline is just an average and that we could hear back at some time during the actual school year. They always have the same answers and never do anything to help the student out. I was originally accepted to the school and they took my offer away because of a miscommunication they had somewhere in the office, so sitting around listening to the same answer week after week is extremely frustrating.

I called last week. They told me my appeal was still under review. Apparently they received a lot of appeals this year. I bet they say that every year.

I called them too but they keep saying the same things. I sent my appeal about 2 and a half months ago and it is really frustrating because I just want a responses and just want to get it over with :frowning:

I sent my letter of appeal on June 12 and got readmitted on June 22. It was such a scare!

@chocochips913 you got in?

I just got rescinded 2 days ago and I’m appealing. Could anyone give me feedback on my letter and what they think my odds of appealing are? (names and dates have been changed for privacy reasons)
To Whom It May Concern,

Yesterday morning, I saw that my admission had been rescinded from San Diego State University on the web portal. I have been aware that my grades at the end of my senior year were low. They are not reflective of my abilities, nor are they reflective of my work ethics or drive. I write this appeal to bring light as to why my grades were lower than they should have been and to ask you to reconsider granting my admission to San Diego State University.
My lacking performance was not caused by senoritis. On (insert date here), while engaging in a daily workout held by the local Marine Corps recruitment office, I blacked out three times. One of my peers told me that during the third time that I had blacked out, Lcpl. Blank had assaulted me. As soon as the Staff Sergeant in charge, Staff Sergeant Blank, heard, negative paperwork was filed and sent up the chain of command. Copies cannot be handed out because of USMC privacy policies, but Staff Sergeant Blank can be reached at (phone number here). On (insert date here), I saw Dr. Blank at the UCSF Cardiovascular Department regarding the three blackouts. I had multiple doctor’s appointments for testing and had to wear a heart monitor for a month. My last test was on (insert date here) and Dr. Blank had determined that I did not have a heart condition and that the blackouts were due to heat syncope. As a result of these events and the testing, my grades took a toll.
Nothing is more important to me than continuing my education and I can think of no better place than San Diego State University.
Sincerely,
Blank

I’ve stalking this page constantly! I’m a transfer student from San Diego City College. Who got denied because I misentered the correct number of units in the supplemental application. Finished all my classes even took a cross enrollment class at sdsu in the spring because no community college offered it. Literally completed everything required I even went to the transfer center and someone reviewed it twice and nobody noticed that mistake. Nobody answers the transfer center the phone just rings so I might head down there and just ask…the last time I spoke to someone they said they would not update the portal they would send me a letter in the mail. Still no letter…

Anyways

Major: public administration

GPA: 3.14

Submitted my appeal march 9

Processed: April 14th (they said 6-8 weeks from that date)

So far nothing getting into July …and no word. Hating life right now.

Half way through July and still nothing…pretty much giving up now.

I called admission today. Got a nice lady on the phone. I told her that I submitted an appeal in Mach, haven’t received a response and I just wanted to check the status. She told me that my complete appeal was submitted to the committee on April 4th. She said that since its been 3 months since and there doesn’t appear to be a decision she is going to kick it up to her supervisor.

Things don’t get kicked up for no reason. I’m going to say that decisions have already been made and letters sent out. My appeal must have fallen behind the water cooler and was never actually reviewed.

I just called today and spoke to someone in admissions my appeal was decided late June as denied. Good luck to everyone who appealedz sucks it was decided in late June and I never got a letter or email in regards to the decision. I guess I’ll re apply in October.

my appeal went through and I got admission!!! :)))))))))))

just so you guys know, not going to orientation will make your appeal process have a low chance of succeeding. Go to orientation if you want your appeal to work. I sent my appeal in late june and I went to orientation and they sent me to the admissions office and the lady put my appeal in the process the next day and a few days later my appeal was accepted and I got admission.

@idablenickname Did you sign up for an orientation date? Or did you just show up to orientation?

My appeal hasn’t been approved. I just tried to sign up for orientation online and got this message…

:black_medium_small_square:You cannot register for New Student Orientation at this time. Please contact the Office of New Student and Parent Programs at (619) 594-1509 for additional information regarding your orientation reservation.

So not sure how @idablenickname was able to do it. Unless they just showed up. In which case, how would admission know that they even attended…

I received an email on 7/24 at 1:30 a.m. saying that I got accepted.

If you don’t receive a decision by the add/drop deadline (Sept. 11) then your appeal is automatically declined.

I called today and was told my appeal was declined on July 31st due to the major being full. All appeals should be done by this friday. August 4th.
