@kminca @socalmomof4 Didn’t it already say early March on the portal since long time ago?
I’m also an Out of state student so that is more than likely why I got in during the month of February.
Accepted mid December, Weber Honors College today-dank. Toured facilities this last week. New engineering school is epic.
GPA: 4.2
ACT: 29
The time delay from the November 30 deadline to release of decisions is something that does need to be addressed by SDSU going forward. Their $55 application fee generated over five million dollars, and a good portion of this should be dedicated to staffing for admissions. Since SDSU uses only two self-reported numbers to create an EI, they could easily have had all decisions out in early December. I am a parent, but I can understand the stress that waiting must be putting on applicants. SDSU has made efforts to sell itself as an aspiring world-class university, but in order to move towards a better reputation, they should assess the admissions process timeline. Other colleges with far more rigorous applications are able to provide decisions with a much shorter wait. Best of luck to all those awaiting decisions.
That is an interesting point. I thought there was an essay, so I figured they needed time to review those - which makes it even more perplexing to me to see applicants with such lower stats than my daughter receiving admissions. I just assumed her essay was bad. lol I feel for ALL the students awaiting acceptance notices, especially when so many other schools have sent them out already.
@disney4cam did your daughter get denied or she just hasn’t heard back yet? because from what I heard is that there’s another wave of accepted decisions coming soon.
@thedumbsmartguy232 No she is still waiting. Honestly, it’s not her top choice, so she isn’t concerned. It was just weird hearing about friends who were accepted in December. This whole college application process is so crazy. It was so much simpler when I went to college 30 years ago! haha
The decisions will come out end of Feb or early March so hang tight and try not to find any correlation in the acceptances or decisions others may have received. There are other factors that weigh into the admissions process such as local, in-state, and major so not quite as easy as considering only 2 criteria.
My OOS DD was accepted back in December for Business Administration. She was “waitlisted” this am via email for Honors College. I wonder if they waitlist everyone? GPA 4.02 and SAT 1260
I know locally there is a pact between SDSU and SDUSD for students applying as engineering through Project Lead the way. Those portfolios were not due to the reviewers until January 30th and they have been reviewing them. So I’m guessing that may be part of the hold up in the engineering department. They used to come out mid feb when my daughter applied a few years ago. Sure hope they come out sooner rather than later as we have only heard from one out of 7 so far.
Not on her portal. I believe it just said ‘pending’ up until yesterday.
My D was also waitlisted for Honors today. 31 ACT and just over 4 CSU GPA. Most commenting on this thread re Honors seem to have gotten accepted over the past 2 days so not everyone applying is getting waitlisted. My D definitely wanted Zura as the non-honors dorms are hit and miss. Kind of too bad as it turned a positive into a thumbs down for us.
Does anyone know if SDSU pays attention to ethnicity? Like is this one of the factors they consider when reviewing your application
@Cat420 SDSU says they just look at your csu gpa and sat/act i.e. not extracurriculars, volunteering, ethnicity, experiences or anything else. But then again why would it take months to review all of the apps if it’s just numbers so not sure if we can know for sure.
They also don’t have affirmative action like some UC’s do.
All California Public schools (UC’s/Cal States) are banned from using affirmative action in their admission decisions. Also having gone through the CSU admission process many times that last 4 years, SDSU is pretty much on schedule. Honors/HIgh Stat applicants got their decisions in December as in previous years and with luck the next wave of decisons will be out by the end of February and continue through March just like they have done the past several years.
I personally do not work in admissions and yes it is stressful and fustrating for parents and applicants alike, but I think unless you work in admissions, no one really knows what it is involved so I would cut them slack…
I am sympathetic to the workload involved with processing some 80K+ applications. My point was simply that they have brought in excess of five million dollars yearly in recent years from application fees. Since their deadline does align with early action/decision deadlines at many colleges, SDSU needs to allocate some of these funds to make the process move more quickly. There are no letters to read; there are no ECs to evaluate. Practically, expediting decisions would improve yield, as it would entice more applicants to choose SDSU earlier in the application process.
Hey guys, I’m currently in a situation that needs some explanation, so if any of you guys know anything about this, please respond!
I applied as an OOS (American citizen, currently residing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and attending an International hs) in October and still have yet to hear back. Despite sending in both my SAT and my AP scores in December, it took up until last week for my SAT scores to show up on my SDSU web portal and my AP scores are still yet to show up. Furthermore, SDSU still has yet to receive my transcript, despite sending it in electronically in late-January. Seeing that other people are already being accepted, could it be these technical difficulties that are slowing down my decision being rendered? Or is it my international status? If anyone knows, please fill me in, thanks!
CS GPA: 3.86
GPA: 3.78
Full IB Diploma Candidate Predicted: 41/45
SAT: 1420
5 in APUSH
Lots of ECs
Thanks!
Here is the admission critieria as a US citizen residing in an International country. Also note that the application deadline is March 1, 2018 instead of Nov 30th but since you are a US citizen, it may be different. I would contact admissions if possible to verify. Also note that most of the decisions for Freshman have yet to be posted. They should be coming within the next few weeks.

you’re out of state and you got admitted early?..what in the world, aren’t out of state students usually notified last since it’s harder for us to get in? now i’m even more nervous…my application is still pending… :-SS
@esther414: For the past several years, SDSU has admitted Honors college invitees and some OOS applicants early. The majority of the acceptances will be out in the next few weeks. Patience.
