SDSU Class of 2022 Applicant Thread

@littlebuoy215 Have you heard from Cal Poly yet? My son applied to both Cal Polys, Cal State Fullerton, and SDSU. He received his acceptance “with distinction” from Cal State Fullerton, but we’ve not heard from anyone else. Getting nervous!

@esther414 What day was that?

@SBMamaBear I’m in the same boat: applied to both CalPoly’s, Fullerton, and SDSU
also accepted with distinction from Fullerton but haven’t heard from SDSU or the Cal Polys

@Caligirl24 I’m very glad that my son does not get nervous or anxious over this process. I’m sure I’m fretting enough for the both of us! He doesn’t even check his web portals because he knows I’ll let him know when he’s accepted. He’s just going about his life and doing his thing… meanwhile, I feel like I’m at a Rose Ceremony! (Bachelor Nation people will know what I’m talking about!)

Any comments about his chances from anyone? His stats are:
ACT 28
SAT 1320
GPA 3.6 (According to Cal State Fullerton)
EI 4200 (According to Cal State Fullerton)
In State (Santa Barbara)
Major: Mechanical Engineering

Again, he’s applied to Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, SDSU. Accepted to Cal State Fullerton (with distinction) and Whittier College (with a generous merit scholarship), so clearly these two colleges consider him a strong applicant. he attends a very academically challenging private high school and has loads of EC’s. Unfortunately, these don’t weigh in the process. Looking back, it would have been better for him to attend a less rigorous public high school where he would have a higher GPA which would give him a higher EI. I didn’t think about this 4 years ago.

Caligirl24: Good luck to you! What is your intended major?

@SBMamaBear Political Science I have very similar stats, a little lower, My ACT is 28 and GPA 3.5

What are the outcomes of an email?

@SBMamaBear my son is in the same boat. Only heard from Fullerton with distinction and nothing from SLO, Pomona or SDSU but he also had an issue with how he reported one of his vapa classes at sdsu so had to fix.

@Bean981 It seems that our sons have applied to the same colleges. What is his intended major, and what is his order of preference for these 4 CSU’s? My son’s preferences rank as follows from 1st choice to 4th choice: SLO, Pomona, SDSU, Fullerton, but he’d be happy at any of them. We visited all 4 campuses and found pros and cons at each one.

@SBMamaBear I honestly think SDSU is still a possibility but I don’t see EI under 4500 happening for ME at CPP. My son had been accepted for CS at all except SLO. He is under 4800 MCA so it’s not going to happen. The good news is we’ll be saving a ton of $ if he commutes from home years 2-4.

A post in another thread reported that Cal Poly has sent out “most” of its acceptances already. Has anyone heard either way?

@Bean 91 Good luck to your son!

@SBMamaBear: Everyone is speculating. Once the waitlist decisions start posting, then you usually can conclude that all the acceptances have gone out.

@SBMamaBear my son is also Mechanical Engineering. He has a 3.86 W GPA and a 1230 SAT. He is also an Eagle Scout which I doubt counts for anything at CSU. His dream is SLO but we both know that isn’t most likely going to happen. He unfortunately wasn’t able to take a 3rd yr of language as they stopped offering it in the language he took. So lost points also since he took Engineering classes for PLTW (pact with SDUSD and SDSU) he didnt get the extra lab science points but I’m still thinking he stands a chance at SDSU as that is our home school. I think his rankings are as follows: SLO, UCI, UCD, CPP, UCR, SDSU. CSUF. I know the first 3 are definitely reach schools but I thought he might stand a chance at the other 4. His essay reader (she reads for the UC system) said for him to apply to UCD which I thought was strange as Naviance showed clearly he wasn’t in the mix but maybe the holistic view may change things along with his essay’s. I’d say he did a pretty good job on them. We shall see since only one has released decisions. UCR was supposed to come out on the 1st but their portal has crashed and was taken down and now they say this week. I forgot how hard this waiting game is as this is my 2nd time around. It seems like only the high achievers have heard from CPP so far…I’m wondering also when they will release their Regular decisions. Seems like all the schools are behind schedule from what I remember from 3 yrs ago. Well at least probably in 2 weeks we will know and can schedule tours then.

February 28th

If i said I would do Calc AB in high school but instead take it online, would that be grounds for rescinsion?

as long as you took the class and passed it then you should be fine @littlebuoy215
