SDSU Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Every school has a minimum TOEFL score required for eligibility and admission, but anything beyond the minimum does not give you an extra admission bump.

Any International applicant applying to any US college has to show English proficiency, so TOEFL is the most common test accepted.

Applied for Speech & Hearing. In state 3.95 weighted GPA, 7 AP, 6 or 7 honors, cal state GPA is 3.65. Lots of extracurricular, community service, a job, and leadership, but nowhere on Cal State application to put all that stuff. I got denied Long Beach for Pre-Nursing. Am I even remotely able to get a yes from any Cal States? @Gumbymom

@ehk123: Other than SDSU and CSULB, where else did you apply?

SDSU in general is more competitive than CSULB and with a CSU GPA below the campus average of 3.97, I would say it will be a Slight Reach. As I have been stating when it comes to chancing, it all depends upon how you stack up against all the other applicants within your intended major. SDSU had 316 applicants for the Speech and Hearing Major for 2020 with 178 accepted which is 56% acceptance rate. This major has a higher acceptance rate than most so you do have a slightly better chance than other majors.

I applied to Fullerton but I don’t want to go there. That may be the only one I get into. Fullerton I applied for communication disorders. I applied cal Poly which is laughable I know for special Education, but I love the school! I’ve got plenty of out of state options with merit money to most of the schools, but staying in-state is better to me now with Covid-19 I’d like to stay closer to home.

I was wondering what the easiest way to check CDS’s for % freshman living on different CSUs? Many thanks, I’m relatively new here on cc!

Just Google the university name cds or common data set. And scroll down to Section F1.

@Anxiouscollegestuden: Did you apply to the same major for each school? Which major did you apply?

In general, SLO is the most competitive Cal state so yes, if you get accepted to SLO, your chances are good at the other schools.

Wow, so much useful info in there! Thanks!

Yes same major got all. Psychology

For all sorry*

Psych at SLO is very competitive with around a 9% acceptance rate. For SDSU, you are looking at a 37% acceptance rate however they have twice the # of applicants and 3 times the # of spots than SLO. I do not have any data for CSUF.

For CSULB, I have average admit CSU GPA of 3.91 for Psychology in 2020.

If you received an early admit from SDSU in December, then you have a chance at SLO and a very good chance at the rest of the schools. If, not SLO will be a Reach and the rest will depend on your GPA and if your within the local service area.

I got an early admit for SLO actually, and I am waiting on the other CSUs! But thank you so much for the information! I didnt realize Cal Polys psych acceptance rate was 9%. Makes me really proud I got in .

I am currently studying internationally, so I dont have a grade system… just marks If I converted my marks to traditional grade letter my CSU GPA is 3.6 ( weighted and unweighted, as I dont have a iption for course rigor) but it’s not really fair for me to do that considering it’s just based on a couple exams per year and no weightage, or credit hours go into those marks
Just exams

Congratulations and best of luck.

Thank you!

I was just wondering if you knew if CSUs and UCs used WES to calculate intl students GPA? CSUF mentioned it in one email if I chose to do it in the event my transcripts were in another language ( they arent) but I used it rn to calculate my GPA and it was pretty satisfactory so. And should I do a WES evaluation? The way CSUF phrased its I’m not sure

If my son was waitlisted for csulb, any chance of him being accepted to SDSU or CPSLO? He’s a biology major. 3.88 GPA, 7 AP, 4 honors, 1 college class. Not able to test due to COVID. Sorry if I am posting in the wrong place. Having trouble maneuvering site from my phone.

SDSU probably more likely than SLO, bio is one of the lowest acceptance rates at SLO, but about 30% acceptance at SDSU.

It seems like CSULB really leans heavily towards favoring local applicants, more so than the other CSUs that give a smaller boost to local applicants so hopefully the CSULB waitlist is an outlier for your son.

Sorry, I do not know. I would contact all schools for the answer.
