i hope you remember me from the SLO forum asking about my chances for getting in based on my major of CS. Do you have the numbers from sdsu like you did from slo?

Good morning.
I’m new here and I am enjoying reading all of your posts and comments. My daughter is currently a senior in hs and is hoping to get into SDSU freshman nursing.
I was wondering if anyone knows about the freshman nursing direct admit program, specifically about accepting between 320-350 students with a target to enroll 120.
Does this mean that if your student is one of the 350 admitted, that the first 120 to actually “accept” are the students that get in the program? Or, do they assume that about 200 will decline the offer? I apologize if this question has already been asked.
Thank you and good luck to everyone.

@Run4itmom I don’t know the specific numbers about the SDSU nursing program, but it is the latter scenario. They accept 350 or so and assume that 120 or so will actually enroll.

Hi again, I was just curious what people’s guesses are for the average accepted gpa for 2021 direct entry nursing? Cause last year it was 4.21, but they used sat / act then, so I’m guessing that the gpa is going to have to go up significantly. My guess is that the average will be between 4.28-4.35. I was also curious if this will give the non college prep schools an advantage because classes may be easier. I personally have gotten all A’s, but I go to a smaller public school. I’ve noticed people who have wayyy higher weighted gpas than I do (4.3), but much lower unweighted (I have a 4.0), so I was curious if we think they will prioritize all A’s from a public school, or a combination of A’s and Bs (maybe even Cs) from a college prep school.

Here is the Nursing stats for the last few years. All schools admit more students since not all will enroll.

I would not try to second guess since so much is unknown especially being test blind this year. I know waiting can be difficult but decisions should be out this month and you do look competitive.

They will look at your HS course rigor in the context of what is offered at your HS so getting good grades in rigorous classes will be a priority especially in the Sciences and you will not be penalized for taking classes that are not available to you.

Best of luck.

Admissions wants a well-rounded class each year, and they will admit students with stats that add balance. Having good stats is important but it’s not the only determining factor. There are many “B” students that are very successful in life.

Does anyone know if SDSU allows admission deferments so students can take a gap year? Thanks in advance.

Have any nursing majors received acceptance or rejection letters? My daughter is waiting and so hopefully beyond words.

Things may have changed due to Covid, but in general SDSU does not allow deferrals. I would contact admissions and ask since it could be on a case by case basis.

My daughter is also still waiting on nursing at SDSU. She did get accepted to pre-nursing at CSULB earlier this month. Also waiting on Fullerton, UCI and UCLA for nursing.

No Nursing decisions have been posted yet.

Thanks so much! We will keep waiting and hoping :pray:t2:

Yes!

Still waiting on nursing here as well. One of the last that we are waiting on, It’s unfortunate that they aren’t taking into account any test scores this year since son did well above last year’s average and that would have helped for an OOS student.

One of the last? I thought the big waves hadn’t come through. I don’t remember seeing many admits announced here. Maybe there’s more to come :crossed_fingers:
