DD waiting on decisions from SDSU and CPP for Kinesiology major. Any idea what the EI is for these majors at these particular CSUs? Her EI is just over 4100. The wait is driving us nutty.
Already accepted at SJSU, CSULA and Univ. of OR. Denied at UCD and Cal Poly SLO. Pending UC apps at UCR, UCI and UCSB.
I am in the same boat with my daughter. When did you hear from Cal Poly? We haven’t heard anything from them yet. We are waiting on SDSU, Cal Poly, UCSB and UCI. Admitted to U of O as well. So nerve wracking!,
In the past, to be competitive for SDSU in any major except Nursing, an EI of 4100+ was considered good. However, as each year’s # of applicants increase, the EI will probably increase. Last year I saw acceptances for Kinesiology that ranged from 4126 to 4550 (again this is a limited amount of data 8 applicants that posted their stats).
For Cal Poly Pomona, a 3900+ EI has been competitive.
Since each school admits by major, acceptances will be based on how each applicant is ranked by their EI. Local vs non-local will also play a part in the acceptances.
@HappyMomInCA - we heard from Cal Poly SLO just today, shortly before noon. Is your daughter also kinesiology? Looks like we are having the exact same experience! Good luck to your daughter!!
@Gumbymom - thanks for that info, helpful indeed. I wish I had found this community 5 months ago. Luckily I’ll be here for a while - son will be a senior next year!
Cheers!
@Rottgrrl My daughter is Kinesiology at Cal Poly and Pre-Athletic training at San Diego. She unfortunately didn’t get into Cal Poly, but we really didn’t expect her to, so she’s wasn’t too disappointed. It’s just the waiting game that the hardest. Once she knows for sure what the answers are, she can make her final decision. She’s been to U of O a couple times to visit, and loves it there… as well as Oregon State. It looks like she will end up at one of those places, depending on the other instate schools. I would love for her to be instate, tuition wise, but whatever happens, happens. She just wants to know so that she can finalize her decision. It’s a shame instate schools are so impacted. Good Luck to your daughter too! Where is she hoping for?
@HappyMomInCA - she’s hoping for SDSU or UCI. Crossing fingers. It sounds like yours and mine have the same career goals - stay in touch, maybe they will end up in same place!
@Rottgrrl Yes, it does. I assume you live in California. Has she visited U of O? I know my daughter would love to be in So Cal, weather wise, but both Oregon schools, University and State are amazing!! I know she would be happy at either one of those as well. From what I understand, UCI should be notifying in the next day or so, and SDSU could be up until the end of the month. But let’s definitely keep in touch. I’m sure there will be other questions once decisions are made.
